My Favorite Lipsticks for Spring

The most wonderful thing about spring time is that it feels really good getting outdoors again and it looks so colorful everywhere. On makeup front, the arrival of Spring means a slight change in makeup for me, mostly my lipstick colors.

I was going though my makeup over the weekend, picking out the items that I thought will be appropriate for the season. And, In today’s post I’m going to share all the lipsticks that I think I’ll be reaching for the most this Spring. So without further ado, here are my favorite lipsticks for spring.

Kat Von D Lolita II

Lolita II is a liquid lipstick and described as ‘terracotta nude.’ It’s a muted, medium corally nude with warm undertones and an ultra matte finish. It gives me a long-lasting wear and the pigmentation is amazing too. Here’s how it looks on my skin:

Mac Mull It Over ( + Mac Lip Pencil ‘Fruit Cocktail’)

‘Mull It Over’ is a muted coral with warm undertone and a semi-matte finish. It has semi-opaque color payoff. It has a lightweight velvety consistency.  This lipstick is from their ‘Powder Kiss Lipstick’ range.

As I mentioned, that it has a semi-opaque color payoff, so I like to combine this lipstick with a lip liner from called ‘Fruit Cocktail’ which is from MAC cosmetics as well.

MAC ‘Fruit Cocktail’ is an orange toned bright coral shade. I often use this lip liner shade to mix with different shades to give the lipstick a different look. But again, it can be worn alone as well.  It is creamy and strongly pigmented.

Fruit Cocktail (Alone)

With Mull It Over

Sephora Rouge Gel Lip Liner  09 Nectarine

This creamy gel lip liner is softer than a traditional liner. It is formulated with a gel-cream finish for an enhanced, smooth look without dullness.

The shade ‘Nectarine’,  is a semi- matte coral shade with a hint of orange hue. I find it perfect for every skin tone considering its bright summery finish.  Here’s how it looks on me:

Loreal Colour Riche 711 At The Drop Of A Matte

‘Drop Of A Matte’ is a beautiful lilac/lavender lipstick with warm pink undertones. This lipstick stays put for a good amount of time. Even though it has matte finish yet it looks very hydrating on lips.

Mac (Retro Matte) Flat Out Fabulous

‘Flat Out Fabulous’ is a beautiful plum matte lipstick by MAC Cosmetics. According to me, it is a bright fuchsia matte with a strong plum undertone. It is a vivid and bright shade, and so much more gorgeous on the lips than in the tube. The shade just pops against my skin tone. I think it’s a really flattering color on anyone from fair to dark skin tones. Here’s how it looks on my skin:

So these were some of my favorite lipsticks for spring season. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments what are your favorite spring lipsticks this year? Will love to hear from you! 🙂

Ideas to Spend Mother’s Day With Kids

Mother’s day is just around the corner.  Its a wonderful occassion and great opportunity for kids to celebrate their mom for all her efforts and hard-work. But if you’re a mom yourself (specially of little ones), then planning this day is your job too, just like every other occasion 😉 . And I’m sure by now you must have figured something out! But if not, then don’t worry at all. I am here to help 🙂 .

In today’s blogpost, I am sharing few ideas about how you can spend this wonderful occasion with your kids and make this day memorable for them and yourself! Please keep reading to know more.

Do Some Gardening

Gardening with children is a great fun activity. From planning and craft-making to planting and harvesting, you can treat your kids any time! Visit the local nursery and have kids pick out some new flowers or vegetables for garden, and then plant them together when you get home.

Plan a Hike

Kids are very energetic by nature. If your child love to run around, then this could be a fun pack activity. Pick a short, interesting hike and allow your child enough time to investigate all the interesting things along the way. To start, choose a place close to home so your children don’t get restless too soon.

Go Bowling

Bowling can be another fun activity for you to do together with your kids. Most bowling alleys provide the ramp, that can be used by children if they can’t throw the ball themselves. You just place the ball at the top of the ramp and they will push it down. You’ll just have to see the excitement on their face 🙂 .

Plan a Picnic

Who doesn’t like good ol’ picnics? Kids love picnics more than we adults do. Plan an outdoor picnic.  Pick a spot and make it special by involving your kids in all the planning like choosing the food menu and games to play etc. The beautiful outdoors, a loving family togetherness, and delicious food will make for lasting memories.

A Day at Amusement Park

Amusement parks can be 50/50 for some moms and kids, but for more adventurous moms and kids, this could be one of the most fun ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. Head to a local amusement park and enjoy the rides with your kids before you turn too old to do that 😉 .

How About a Tea Party

Tea parties are the best. Specially with your little ones 🙂 . Mother’s Day falls during that wonderful time of year when the weather is pleasantly warm and not too hot. A garden tea party (maybe just in your backyard) would be a special and elegant way to celebrate this day. So, why not!

Go Strawberry Picking

Spring is the perfect time for strawberry picking, what do you say? Find a farm near you that will let your whole family come out and pick some strawberries. Don’t forget to bring your camera and capture all the fun memories that you’ll make while berry-picking!

A Short Day (Road) Trip

Road trips can be a great way to bond with your family. Google the nearby stops from your place and plan a one or two day short trip. Try to pick the scenic and interesting route for a more memorable drive. Sometimes, half the fun and adventure of the vacation can be in getting there!

Find the Local Events in Your Town

Try searching for Mother’s Day events in your town or city.  You may be able to see if there are any special events being put on, such as a mother’s day brunch etc. If yes, then start your day by enjoying the brunch with your family and later pick any one activity from this list to make your day excellent 😉 .

How are you moms planning to spend this day with your kids and family? Don’t forget to share but whatever you do, make sure to have loads of fun 🙂

Wishing y’all wonderful moms a Happy Mother’s Day. Enjoy!

5 Effortless Ways to Style a Spring Scarf

Spring is said to be the season of new beginnings. Fresh buds bloom and the earth seems to come to life again.

If we talk about fashion, then we all know that with every changing season, we see new fashion trends in the market. Some of them excites us and many of them are not wearable at all!

HR.L1127.09_06

Fashion trends come and go but there’s one thing which you can never go wrong with, and that is Accessories! Yes, accessories have the ability to turn our boring outfits into more stylish attire.

Whether its a pair of statement shoes, a stylish bag, a piece of trendy jewelry, a pair of chic sunglasses, or just a silk scarf, all these items have the tendency to make your outfits look better in one or the other way. Just think about scarves alone, it is one of the easiest ways to accessorize your OOTDs, specially in the spring season. Having said that, even though a scarf can be easily incorporated in your outfit, however, it can be a bit tricky for a lot of people from styling point of view.

Hence, in todays’ blogpost, I am sharing few tricks on how to wear this must-have fashion accessory of 2019, like a fashion Pro!

1. Around Your Neck

I absolutely love this classic style of wrapping the scarf around neck. It’s an easy way to add some personality to your outfit. It is so French, so chic and so on trend for spring!

2. Around the Handbag

Add a little color and pattern to your outfit by tying your scarf to the handle of your purse or tote bag. You can either tie it as a bow around the handle of your bag or you can experiment a little more by wrapping the scarf on your bag’s handle to give it an exceptional look.

3. As a Hair Accessory

There are many ways you can add a scarf in your hairs as an accessory to look stylish. Checkout below:

Head Wrap: Take and fold the scarf into a 3 inch strip and then fasten at the base of your neck. As simple as that!

Top Knot: Tie your scarf up like shown in the pictures. Pair with a cute romper or a dress and you’re all set for the day. So effortless, isn’t it?!

In Braid: If you’re a fan of hair braids, then this could be your one of the most fashionable hair hacks to add that little extra oomph to simple hair braids.

On Hair Pony: Update your ponytail by topping it off with a colorful scarf instead of plain boring hair ties.

4. On Your Wrist

Next trick is to use it as an arm candy on your wrist. If you’re worried that the scarf is too long, loop it a few times around your wrist then knot tightly to create a bow that hangs off to the side.

5. As a Belt

This Spring, dare to go bold by wrapping the scarf around your waist instead of using a belt. It will add a totally new dimension to your outfit, I bet! 😉

So these were some ‘oh-so-chic’ ways to style the scarf this season. What according to you are the other fun ways that you’ll style your scarves this spring and summer?

Hope you’re having a great Start of Spring (free from allergies 😉 ). Thank you so much for reading! Don’t leave without saying ‘Hi’ 🙂

Ofra Cosmetics Everyday Nudes set is a mini liquid lipstick set which I think is the perfect size if you want to try out the liquid lipstick range from this brand. This set contains 4 mini liquid lipstick shades , all nudes and the price of this lip set is 20$(USD).

ofra everyday nude set

This set contains four liquid lipsticks in mini size. These are:

  1. Sanibel
  2. Verona
  3. Bel Air
  4. Unzipped

Swatches:

Sanibel (rose nude): Sanibel is described as a rose nude color. Its a perfect nude for light to medium skin tones.

Verona (mocha nude brown matte): Verona is described as “mocha nude brown” shade. This is a beautiful true brown shade for medium/olive skin tone with a warm undertone.

Bel Air (light nude matte): This shade is another beautiful nude with a peach undertone. Even though the peachy undertone makes it a very wearable shade, yet I find this shade slightly lighter for my taste, so I like to combine it with a brown lip pencil and it works perfectly for me.

Unzipped (nude berry): This shade is my favorite shade in the whole set. As the name suggests, its a very beautiful berry (nude) shade that is not only quite wearable but I’m sure, it will look great on every skin tone!

Review:

These liquid lipsticks have almost mousse like consistency which makes them very easy to apply. The texture is creamy but they dry as matte/semi matte after the application.  The formula is really good, it feels light on the lips and doesn’t feel tacky or patchy at all. These liquid lipsticks have light vanilla scent in them which doesn’t last long after the appplication. The staying power of these lipsticks is somewhere 5-6 hours on my lips , except Bel air and Sanibel, those ones I had to re-touch after 3-4 hours. Pigmentation wise all shades are very good, except Bel Air, for this particular shade I had to go in with at least 2 layers to get a good color payoff. To remove the lipsticks, I just use makeup remover to wipe them off. The colors come off easily on removing, they don’t leave any stain on the lips. These liquid lipsticks do transfer a bit.

So all in all, I’m happy with this nude liquid lipstick set as in they stay on for a good average amount of time, the shades are really beautiful, they don’t have weird scent and they are neither tacky nor patchy even after layering for 2-3 times! This set is my current go to lip set. Since, the tube size is mini,  all you get is 0.04 oz of product in each tube. But the good news is that you don’t have to waste your money on big sized tube if you didn’t like any of the shades in this set.

Have you tried this set or any other shades from this range yet? I would love to know your thoughts on this brand!

Have a great week 🙂  ❤

MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick: Review, Swatches & Wear Test

Mac powder kiss lipstick on indian skin

Powder Kiss Lipstick is a new matte formula by Mac Cosmetics that has been launched a couple of months ago. The brand launched 16 shades in the beginning and then recently they’ve added another 8 (new) shades to the existing line.

mac mull it over review and swatch

I bought the shade ‘Mull It Over’ as this shade looked most exciting to me in entire collection. It’s a dirty peach kind of shade. It retails for 19$ (USD).

Packaging:

The actual packaging of this lipstick is slightly different than their normal packaging. The packaging of this tube is more matte, unlike the original glossy packaging.

mac mull it over on indian skin

When I first opened the tube, I noticed that the product has ‘powder’ like appearance to it.

Review:

It’s a lightweight formula and feels very smooth on the lips. I had no problems with the application whatsoever.

As you can see the swatch on my arm, the color looks very pigmented there but when I applied it on my lips, the color didn’t look as pigmented as it was looking on my arm. The good news is that it’s buildable. The only thing you need to take care before wearing this lipstick is don’t forget to exfoliate your lips (which I clearly forgot as you can see in the pictures!). Its not that this lipstick will make your lips dry or something,  its because if you want to build the color, you don’t want your lips to look flaky at all. Otherwise the formula is very good as it is both matte and moisturizing at the same time.

Also, it’s not transfer poof as you can see in the picture below:

mac mull it over on indian skintone

Things I liked about this Lipstick:

  1. The application is smooth, almost feels balm – like on lips.
  2. Doesn’t make lips drier.
  3. Wearable colors.
  4. Buildable.

Things I didn’t like:

  1. The lipstick has a very distinct smell. The smell that I can’t really explain in words. Or maybe I can try! It’s like burnt vanilla with a hint of bitterness… just something like that! I kept feeling that smell until the lipstick stayed on my lips.
  2. The lipstick has a very sweet sugary taste to it. In my opinion, this is a little bit too    much for me.
  3. Not lasting. If you don’t like retouching your lipsticks every two to three hours (this is average), then this is not a good option at all.

So, last but not least, I think I would rather grab the original matte MAC lipstick instead of picking this one, but I am glad that I tried atleast one shade from this collection to find out was the hype even worth? Not for me, I guess 🙂

What are your thoughts on this line of Mac lipsticks? Have you tried it yet? If yes, how did you like it?

I hope you’re having a wonderful day. ❤

See you very soon in the next post. Until then…

6 Things That You Should Never Do To Your Skin

We all know that there are certain things which we shouldn’t do to our skin ever, but most of the times we end up doing them anyway.

winterskincaretips

In today’s post I am mentioning some of the worst things that we all do to our skin at some point of time and we should stop doing them to get a good, healthy, clear skin.

Please keep reading to find out what those six things are that we need to completely avoid.

Over-Exfoliation

Exfoliation is a great way of getting rid of dead cells from our skin.  Dead skin cells that clog our pores can give us blackheads and/or acne. Its really beneficial if we exfoliate our skin in a right way. Exfoliation done too aggressively can lead to skin irritation. To make sure you don’t over exfoliate, avoid applying too much pressure while exfoliating and use an exfoliator with gentle, small granules, which won’t be too harsh on your skin. Usually its a good practice to exfoliate once a week if you have a dry or sensitive skin, twice a week if you’ve normal and combo skin, and three times a week if your skin type is oily.

Popping (a Zit)

Most of us are guilty of squeezing a pimple as soon as we see it on our face! But the truth is, the more you pop or pick at your zit, the more inflammation you create underneath. Also all the bacteria from your fingertips transfers on to your skin, making it all worse. If you don’t do it or have never done it, you’re awesome, but if you’re someone who has the continuous habit of touching your own face, you need to be stop doing this! And whenever you see a zit on your skin, instead of rubbing or picking it, just try to put some ointment on it for some relief and be patient with it.

Touching Or Rubbing

Try to avoid touching your face as much as you can!  Bacteria, viruses and allergens can easily transfer from fingertips onto the skin. Also, repeatedly rubbing the skin can do some real damage. Hands aren’t the only way to transfer the germs. Cell phone is another thing which we never think of, that can transfer germs to our facial skin, so are the pillow cases. If we talk about Cell phones then you should know that these accumulate grime and bacteria that can easily transfer to the face. Keep your phone clean by gently wiping it down with rubbing alcohol once a week to remove traces of makeup, sweat, and other contaminants.  Change your pillowcases frequently too.

Not Protecting Your Skin

I am sure you all know that you’re meant to wear sunscreen everyday, but do you really do it though? If you don’t then you may want to start doing it from now on! Lemme tell you why? The sun is responsible for 90% of how our skin ages. This is because the sun destroys collagen (main structural protein), which causes skin sagging and wrinkles, and UV rays trigger melanin (pigment) production, aka dark spots. Look for a facial SPF that has minimum factor 30 SPF, and a UVA rating of 4-star or higher.

It is important to know here, that the SPF protects against UVB rays that burn the skin, while UVA protects against UVA rays that penetrate deeper into the skin and destroy collagen – so both are essential! UVB rays are very strong during summer but UVA rays are constant all year round. Although UVA rays won’t burn your skin, they contribute to skin aging and even skin cancer! UVA rays can pass through glass windows and clouds so choose a moisturizer with minimum SPF 30 and use it everyday, even on cloudy days. Also don’t forget your neck.

Using the Same Products Forever

You may have found a skincare routine that works best for you currently but the sad truth is that its not going to last forever. Eventually, your skin will change over the time and it will get used to any active ingredients in your skincare products that you’re using right now, so over the time, they will become less effective. It’s important to constantly re-evaluate your skin and keep changing your skincare regimen according to your skin’s current requirements.

Sleeping in your makeup

Sleep is body’s time to repair itself from the stress of the day and while we sleep, growth hormones stimulate the renewal of all of our body’s organs, including the skin.

Sleeping in makeup can clog pores that can cause breakouts. Wearing makeup to bed can trap oils under the skin.  When you sleep in your makeup you are not giving your skin a chance to recover, which can lead to premature aging. Sleeping in makeup can also interfere with the natural shedding or exfoliation process of the skin, which can result in a duller, dry and coarse complexion. So, its very important to remove the makeup before going to bed to prevent our skin from the damage.

skincaretips2019.jpg

These were some of the strict no-no’s that you should avoid doing to your skin. If I’m forgetting something, don’t forget to mention it in the comment section. Thank you so much for reading!  🙂

I hope y’all are having a great week! ❤

Urban Decay ‘Naked Petite Heat’ Eyeshadow Palette: Swatches & Review

indian smokey eye makeup

Hello everyone! The eyeshadow palette that I am going to review today is not a new product by any means. In fact this palette is a year old.

Urban deacy heat palette swatches on Indian skin

I don’t wear eyeshadows on daily basis, so I couldn’t convince myself to get this eyeshadow palette earlier. But I was so drawn towards the colors in this palette that I decided whenever I will buy any new eyeshadow palette, I’ll go for this one!

urban decay eyeshaow tutorial

About the Palette

This palette has five mattes and one shimmer shade.  The shade names are:

UD heat swatches on indian skin

  • Inhale

Inhale is a light beige shade with a warm-yellow undertone and satin sheen. Although this shade is lightest in the palette, it has opaque pigmentation and it blends out nicely.

  • Vibrate

Vibrate is a light, peachy brown shade with a warm undertone. It has matte finish. The pigmentation is good but not too opaque. It is quite buildable but only if you apply the eyeshadow primer first, the color doesn’t show much on bare skin.

  • Hot Spell

Hot Spell is a light-medium brown shade with a warm-orange undertone. This, too, has a matte finish. It has good color payoff with a soft, blend-able consistency.

  • Wild Thing

Wild Thing is a bright, medium-dark orange with warm-rusty undertone and has a matte finish too. It is very pigmented shade yet very easy to apply on the lid. It blends out like butter.

  • Heist

Heist is a medium-dark brown with warm-orange undertone and has a matte finish. This shade too, has very good pigmentation and it is quite build-able.

  • Strike

Strike is a deep, plummy brown shade with warm undertone. This shade has also a matte finish and blends out easily like most of other shades. This shade is darkest in the palette. It is comparatively little patchy but since it is build-able like other shades, so its not bad either.

Review & Swatches

After using this palette for couple of times, I think I am totally in love with this palette! I tell you why:

1. Its a travel friendly eyeshadow palette with a perfect size which has an in-built mirror inside.

2. Almost all the shades in the palette provide great color payoff.

3. Most of the shadows are long-lasting. We’re talking 7 to 8 hours without touch-up.

4. It compliments my skin tone very well. As both the ‘skin texture’ and ‘color’ of my eyelids is quite different from my entire face (skin), I usually don’t find many eyeshadows flattery on me. But this one, I really, honestly loved! Also, it is so easy for me to mix the colors of this eyeshadows with the eyeshadows of other palettes that I already have!

The Verdict?

I am so glad and excited to finally add this palette to my makeup collection. All I can say is that I can’t wait to create more looks with it. 🙂

Hope you guys are having a great week so far.

Valentine’s Day Special: Let’s Talk About Self-Love

valentinesdayblogpost

Learning to love yourself is one of the most powerful and important things that you can do in your life. You simply can not take care of your loved ones until you take care of yourself first. Self love is not some desperate need to be better or more deserving than others. And it is definitely not being selfish or vain but it’s a commitment to get to know and accept yourself as you are!

On this perfect occasion of celebrating unconditional love, let’s make a promise to ourselves to be kind, forgive and love ourselves just the way we do all this for our loved ones and be proud of who we are ❤ .

avant-garde

When we talk about self-love, it can be a little overwhelming and tricky topic for some of us and think How do we learn to love ourselves? Here are 7 ways, I am discussing in today’s post that will help  you to start practicing the art of self-love straight away:

  • Make Yourself Your Number 1 Priority. Remember, in order to love others and be loved, you need to first love yourself. It is easy to get caught in the craziness of everyday life and ignore your own needs. When you keep doing this, not only you suffer, but you are not at your best for everyone else around you.

  • Stop Criticizing Yourself. Nobody is perfect, we all have shortcomings but don’t let those shortcomings define yourself.   Criticism tears you down and can leave you feeling demoralized and hollow. On the contrary, choose to praise yourself and that will not only help you building your self-esteem but will nurture the  feelings of self-worth.

  • Take Care of Your Body. Respect and nurture your body by eating healthy, exercising on a regular basis, keeping yourself clean & well-groomed and getting enough sleep. Try meditation for your mental well being.

  • Be Your Own Best Friend. It’s in your own best interest to love yourself. You know yourself better than anyone else. You know all your faults and all your strengths. You know what makes you laugh and what makes you cry. Show yourself the same compassion and empathy you would to your best friend. Learn to enjoy your own company.

  • Accept Your Current Situation. No matter how negative your current situation is there is always an opportunity for growth and improvement. Remember nothing is forever and that includes the negative things in life. Your circumstances are not a reflection of you. How you choose to react to your circumstances is what ultimately defines who you are!

  • Be Mindful. People who have more self-love tend to know what they think, feel and want. They are mindful of who they are and what they want to do in life, rather than relying on what others want them to do.

  • Forgive Yourself. We humans can be so hard on ourselves sometimes. You have to accept the fact that you are not perfect, before you can truly love yourself. Practice being kind to yourself more when you make a mistake. Remember, there are no failures, if you have learned and grown from your mistakes; there are only lessons learned.

76F7B642-FFB3-4561-BA3F-AF383F9474E0

At last but not least, I will only say that to love yourself is a lifelong process. Which means, it’s  not a destination – it’s a daily practice. It all starts with you and ends with you. 🙂

Enjoy and see you soon in the next post! ❤

Until then…
