Revlon Super Lustrous ‘The Luscious Mattes’ : Review & Swatches

Revlon has launched its Iconic “Super Lustrous” Lipsticks in 24 Matte Shades recently. The shade range of this lipstick collection varies from Nudes to Mid tone Pinks to Plums to Reds and even some fun colors like Purple and Black.

Packaging:

The packaging of this lipstick looks really high end. It has a beautiful  black velvet matte tube, with a gold trim on the top.

You can get an idea of all the shades from this collection in the pictures down below:

From Left to Right: AFTER HOURS, BLACK CHERRY, CANDY ADDICT, CHERRIES IN THE SNOW, CRUSHED RUBIES

From Left to Right: FIRE & ICE, GETTING SERIOUS, HEARTBREAKER, HOT CHOCOLATE, HOT DATE

From Left to Right:  IF I WANT TO, INSANE, KISS & TELL, MAKE IT PINK, MOONLIGHT

From Left to Right: ON FIRE, ONYX, PICK ME UP, RHYTHM & BLUES, SHAMELESS

From Left to Right: SHOW OFF, SPICED COCOA, UNTOLD STORIES, WILD THOUGHTS

I’ve got shade name Untold Stories from this collection. Each lipstick in this collection retails for $9.49 and the quantity of the product is 0.15 oz in each bullet. This shade ‘Untold Stories’ is a very pretty nude pink shade with blush undertones.

Formula:

The lipstick has a very lightweight formula. It feels rich and moisturizing on the lips.

According to the brand: The formula of this lipstick is infused with a   luxurious botanical blend of agave, moringa oil, and cupuacu butter to  help your lips feel supple and look smooth.

Review:

The lipstick feels very smooth on the lips when you first apply it on. The pigmentation level is really good, even though this is a light shade. It doesn’t contain any scent either. But it is not completely transfer-proof. Even though the formula feels hydrating on the lips, I suggest both exfoliating and moisturizing your lips prior to the application of this lipstick, for a smooth finish. Unfortunately, this doesn’t last long. It stayed on my lips for about 3-4 hours, and then I noticed some fading. I had just one meal before it was completely gone from my lips and I had to re-apply it.

Here are some Pros and Cons of this lipstick that I’d like to share:

Pros

  • Very Moisturizing
  • No scent (good for those who prefer it)
  • Feels lightweight on lips
  • Truly Matte with a light sheen finish
  • High Pigment payoff on ONE swipe across lips
  • Glides on smooth without tugging

Cons

* Not transfer-proof, smudge-proof or waterproof

* Not long-wearing, will fade in few hours and/or need to reapply

Swatches:

Overall, I personally would like to try few other colors too, because this is an affordable matte lipstick option with such pretty shades available at drugstore. I like the fact that it doesn’t have cheap scent or quality for that matters. I hope this helps 🙂

Have you tried any shade from this range yet? If yes, which one and what are your thoughts on it. Do share 🙂 ❤

Easy DIY Facial at Home

The Valentine’s Day is just in less than 2 days. This day is all about love, but not just ‘romantic’ love. It’s about showing appreciation to those whom we love and who are special to us. Make sure you don’t forget to include yourself 🙂

For me self-love is all about how I take care of myself physically, emotionally and mentally so that I can take care of my loved ones in the best way possible. I do believe that it all starts with ourselves. I tell myself this everyday that life is a blessing and we don’t need a ‘specific’ reason to celebrate it! Hence, I try to save some time for myself frequently and do at least few things that gives me happiness. One of such things is to pamper myself. It doesn’t matter if I do something big or something as small as giving myself a facial to pamper myself, trust me it feels so good to take some time just for yourself from your daily routine.

Today I am sharing 7 very easy steps to give yourself a  spa-like facial at home to pamper yourself not just for vday but for any day when you need some extra “treat yourself” experience. As we all know, a facial is without a doubt, the best way to get a glowy skin. For me, a facial is an important part for maintaining a healthy skin. A facial helps locking the moisture in the skin and helps removing dead skin cells that clog the pores. All you need to do is just follow these 7 simple steps and your skin will be glowing in no time!

  1. Cleanse

First step is to make sure that your face is completely free of any makeup or dirt. It is very important to start everything with a clean slate. That’s why if you’re wearing any makeup then start with removing all of it using a makeup remover. After removing the makeup, wash your face and neck with the facial cleanser. Once your face is completely clean, you are ready for the next step.

2. Steam

When you’re treating yourself to a facial at home, you have to make sure that you do not skip this step. Steaming opens up the pores and hydrates the skin. Steaming is the secret that most of the facialists swear by. If you don’t have a facial steamer at home then use the boiled water in a bowl. Put a towel over your head and lean over the water allowing the steam to rise to your face – without sitting too closely! Sit like this for 5 to 10 minutes while the steam opens up your pores, moistens your skin and make it ready for the next steps!

3. Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps getting rid of any dead skin cells that are giving you a dull, and tired complexion. For this step, use a gentle exfoliator and scrub in slow, circular motions across your cheeks, chin, nose, forehead, and neck. Remember, your scrub will do all the work for you, so don’t be too vigorous or push hard on your skin or you could do more damage than good! Alternatively, if scrubs upset your skin, use a warm, wet washcloth and, using circular motions, gently rub your skin. Then rinse off with lukewarm water. This will leave your skin soft and tender and prepared for the next steps.

4. Massage

The next step in the process of performing a facial is to massage the face. A facial massage helps stimulating your facial muscles and encourage the blood flow to the area. Since you are going to do your own face massage, you don’t have to be perfect. All you need is to learn few facial massage steps which you can easily do by watching few videos on youtube.

5. Mask

After the massage apply a facial mask. The type of face mask you use depends on your skin type. If you have oily skin, use a clay mask. For dry skin, I suggest using a hydrating cream or gel mask. Depending on the mask, leave it on for the suggested amount of time and then rinse completely.

A facial mask should never be applied to your eye area as the skin is too delicate. If you’d like to give some TLC to this area then try applying some eye cream which will nourish the skin around your eyes while you wait for your mask to do its magic to the rest of your skin.

6. Tone

Next step is to use a toner on your face. Toner is like the setting spray for your skincare routine. It makes sure all your hard work doesn’t go to waste and seals everything off. Using a toner rounds off your facial by closing your pores and making sure that there’s no residue from your products left on your face. For sensitive or dry skin, avoid products that contain alcohol as they can take the moisture out of your skin, leaving it dry and irritated. Use a cotton pad to apply the toner over your forehead, cheeks, chin and nose and you’re ready for the last step!

7. Moisturize

During a facial, our skin goes through a lot, causing it to lose moisture. So, the final step is to inject some moisture into your newly refreshed skin. Apply an eye cream (if you haven’t done this in previous step) and a moisturizer right before ending the facial. If your skin is oily, opt for a hydrating and mattifying gel formula, but if your skin is on the dryer side, give your skin a drink with a rich, creamy moisturizer. Once your skin has soaked in your moisturizer then your facial is complete!

Happy pampering! 😉

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week ahead…. Happy Valentine’s day! ❤

See y’all soon in the next post. Until then…

My Everyday Favorite ‘Neutral’ Lipsticks

‘Lipstick’ is the one thing in my entire makeup collection that I tend to have most fun with. I love wearing lipsticks and I love exploring new brands and different lip shades. As much as I love my bright and bold lipstick colors, I still find myself gravitate more towards those lipstick shades which look natural on me for everyday use.

In today’s blogpost, I am sharing my 7 favorite lipstick shades that are always in rotation when it comes to my everyday makeup look. For me as an everyday makeup look, ‘subtle brown smokey eyes’ with a ‘neutral lip’ is my go to thing. And the shades I am sharing on the blog today are the ones that I find perfect for daily wear. 3 out of these 7 are from Mac cosmetics and 4 are from other renowned brands. Want to know which ones? Keep reading 🙂

Note: Before adding the lipstick swatches, I’ve shared a picture of me without any lipstick, so that you can get a better idea of each lipstick shade on my skin knowing the natural color of my lip!

No Lipstick

Mac Cosmetics: Velvet Teddy

Velvet Teddy by Mac Cosmetics, is a great lip for everyday wear. Velvet Teddy is described as ‘deep-tone beige’ with a matte finish. This is how this shade looks on me:

NARS  Power Matte Lip Pigment: American Woman

American Woman is a liquid lipstick and it is a ‘medium, rosy mauve’ shade with neutral undertone and a matte finish. The texture of this liquid lipstick is very thin. I love this shade as its so near to my natural lip color.

Mac Cosmetics: Twig

Twig is a warm toned, ‘medium mauve’ shade with a satin finish. It is a very flattering lipstick color and it looks beautiful on a wide range of skin tones.

Mac Cosmetics: Taupe

MAC Taupe is described as a ‘muted reddish-taupe brown’ shade. It is a very sophisticated color. It is an excellent shade for office goers. Easy to pull off. It looks medium brown on my skin tone as you can see in the picture.

Too Faced: Sell Out

Sell Out is such a pretty neutral shade, as you can see. The formula of this liquid lipstick feels very light on the lips. This shade is described as a ‘matte soft pinky-brown’.

Makeup Forever Artist Nude Creme Liquid Lipstick: Touch

This liquid lipstick has a mousse like consistency, texture wise. The shade I’m wearing here is #08 and the shade name is ‘Touch’. This is an extremely pigmented and opaque lipstick with a creamy, satin finish.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: Lolita II

This liquid lipstick shade is my another one of the most favorite shades which is described as a ‘terracotta nude’. It’s a muted, medium rosy coral with warm undertones and an ultra matte finish.

So, these were some of the lipsticks that I enjoy wearing on everyday basis. What about you? What are some of your everyday favorite lipstick shades? Will wait to hear from you… Don’t forget to share 🙂

I hope you have a great weekend! 🙂

See you soon in next post.

5 Important Tips To Save Skin This Winter

Winter can devastate our skin if we do not know how to take proper care of the skin during the dry cold days. It’s because during the winter time, the humidity levels drop both indoors and outdoors, and dry air tends to minimize our skin’s natural moisture.

Once there’s dryness in the skin, it gets uncomfortably rough and itchy. Fortunately, you can avoid all this by sticking to the tips that I’m sharing in today’s post! When it comes to saving our skin in dry winter, there are few rules you need to follow. Let’s see what are those rules:

Use Humidifier

Number one rule is to get and use a Humidifier in your home, if you don’t already have one! As we all know that dry air can cause moisture to evaporate from the skin.  Humidifiers add that moisture back to the air. Adding moisture to the air with a humidifier can help preventing many skin and health related problems that occur because of the dry air inside the closed doors. However, using the humidifier is not enough in itself. In addition, you need be sure that the heat setting is kept on low or at a moderate temperature to avoid that extra dryness in the air.

Avoid Hot & Long Showers

A nice hot steamy shower seems like the perfect remedy  in a cold day. However taking too long shower with even moderately ‘hot’ water can dry out the skin that can lead to itchiness. It’s because the hot showers and baths can inflame the skin which can disrupt the skin’s natural balance of moisture. Stick to showering with lukewarm water and try to shorten your shower time too, somewhere between 8-12 minutes.

Don’t Use Harsh Cleansers

Since your skin is already lacking moisture during these days, you’d want to stick to gentle cleansers for both your face and body. Harsh or stronger cleansers can strip away the natural oils of your skin and make your skin way drier. Try to use cream cleansers instead, because they are gentle on the skin and have built-in moisture. Having said that, try to use only required amount of product on your skin while showering. Only apply the cleanser where you actually need it, such as under your arms, in your groin area, and on your feet. You can use the leftover cleanser (on your hands) on rest of the body parts. By doing this, you can avoid losing the natural moisture that your skin already has!

Exfoliate Moderately

Realistically, you should be exfoliating all year round, but when it comes to winter season, it becomes even more important to buff that extra dry skin. Exfoliation helps replenish the skin and improve the effectiveness of moisturizers. Stick to exfoliation no more than twice a week but only if you have a normal to oily skin type. If your skin type is already dry, then you may want to either skip the exfoliation altogether or you must use a  very gentle and mild scrub instead. In any case, beware of over-exfoliating your skin, as your skin is more prone to dryness in the cold weather. The last thing a raw, dehydrated, winter-worn skin needs is a harsh face peel or scrub, which can further deplete moisture and worsen the skin’s condition.

Moisturize Regularly

Last, but one of the most important rules of winter skin care is to moisturize your skin on regular basis. Moisturizing is an essential part of our skin regimen but it becomes much more important in this dry, freezing weather. Using a good winter moisturizer can help you treat and prevent the dry skin during winter months. Moisturizing can make a huge difference. Be sure to choose a product according to your skin’s need and prefer to apply  it on your skin when your skin is damp (such as after a shower) to help it retain some hydration. Also don’t forget the Sunscreen. You need to accept the fact that Sunscreen isn’t just for the summertime. Winter sun can still damage your skin.

One additional tip: make ‘Petroleum Jelly’ your best friend, specially in cold season! This gooey substance can fix just about anything that is skin related: from a cracked lip to cracked heals. One of the very popular petroleum jelly brand name is Vaseline! Petroleum is the main ingredient of Vaseline. But unlike other forms of petroleum, Vaseline is said to be safe to use on your skin and hands. I, personally, avoid using it on my face as petroleum jelly may clog the pores but it can be best for your skin on hands and feet.

At last, I’d like to add, even though all these tips may come handy but if your skin stays dry no matter how much you take care of it, or if it’s constantly peeling or cracking, don’t ignore it. Think of consulting a doctor or a dermatologist to create the best moisturizing action plan possible.  🙂

I hope y’all had a wonderful beginning of 2020! ❤

4 Autumn Trends That I am Loving Right Now

Hello everyone!

With the arrival of every new season, we all like to transition our wardrobe to make it ready for that particular season. Now that its finally Fall, where the weather is getting cooler day by day and the leaves are changing color, we want a wardrobe that reflects all of our favorite things about the season.

Having said that, just like every season, this time too, there is an overload of fashion trends where you, as a customer, are being presented with many many new trends but all these trends are essentially not everyone’s cup of tea.

Just like that, there are some trends that I’d love to see in my Autumn/Winter wardrobe this year. These are not just the trends that I am loving right now, but are some of the most popular ones currently! Care to know what I am talking about? Please keep reading 🙂

1.Animal Print

I have to say that Animal Print is a timeless fashion staple, hence secures a place every Autumn/Winter year after year. The fun part is that, animal prints is not going to limit just to leopard print only, instead there’s a huge variety this season. I think the animal print staples are daring, elegant and instant style-makers. To amp up your wardrobe using animal print, you can either try a duster-length leopard print cardigan with a black blouse, a slip on a silky snake print skirt or a zebra print scarf can go a long way in adding some depth to your fall ensemble. Get some inspo from the pictures below:

2. Colors To Look For

This year, the color trends are a mix of both bright and classic fall tones. In addition to timeless favorites like burgundy and navy—jewel toned colors like magenta and emerald are making an appearance this season. You’ll see the Brown with a twist too. There are some other colors too which are currently in trend, but these four caught my eye. Let’s have a look:

(i) Shades Of Brown

This Fall season, you will not get just regular shade of brown but a variety, mostly, camel and caramel shades of brown. The color which is very near to this description is named ‘Sugar Almond’ by Pantone. Checkout below:

(ii) Deep Reds

Burgundy is a color that we love to wear almost every year during Fall months, hence it always stays in trend. This year the color named as ‘Biking Red’, a color which is not essentially burgundy but almost similar, looks like the color of a fine wine! Check this out:

(iii) Emerald

This rich jeweled tone color is the show stopper of this season. Pantone named this color ‘Eden’ which looks deep forest green. As beautiful as this color looks, it gives you (the wearer), an opportunity to experiment with another deep tone color instead of just wearing the usual navy and burgundy each fall season.

(iv) Magenta

Another color, which I am seeing in stores this season and absolutely in love with is: Magenta! Personally, I think this is one of the most beautiful shades of pink and it goes so well with this season by just adding that pop of color to your fall ensemble. I found some pieces to share with you for instant inspiration. Check’em out below:

3. Accessories : Gold, Crystal & Pearls

Next thing which I’d like to talk about is the accessories. Accessories are something that help you to stay on-trend without breaking your bank.

Wether its a piece of jewelry, a trending handbag or just a simple hair accessory, best part about accessories is that it’s less commitment than creating an entirely on-trend outfit even when you don’t have the funds to buy an entirely new wardrobe each season. This Fall, I am seeing the jewelry, bags and hair accessories mostly in gold, crystal and pearls. Checkout the pictures below for some inspiration:

4. Modren Plaid:

Plaid is perhaps one of the most versatile patterns. This year, at Paris Fashion Week, designers presented different variants of the print.

Hence, the plaid options are surprisingly good. I have few pictures to share with you as an inspo, check them out below:

What are some of the Fall fashion trends that you are loving currently? Do not forget to share! 🙂

Have a wonderful week!

5 Simple Steps for Self-Care

The concept of self-care is not a new concept but is still confused by many people with ‘being selfish’ — that somehow taking care of ourselves is self-involvement or a selfish act instead of a self-respectful act.

It is not a selfish act. Self-care is a practice of activities that are necessary to sustain life and health, initiated by any individual for him or herself! No matter how indulgent or fancy the term may sound, self-care is crucial for our physical, emotional and mental well-being.

Self Care has become a huge priority for me from the last few years – ranging from getting more sleep to exercising and most importantly,  the ability to say no to too many things which don’t serve me in any positive way.

In the end of the day, we all want ourselves to be better than yesterday, but sometimes we are too overwhelmed to decide from where to start!

Hence, in today’s post, I am sharing 5 simple steps of Self-care which will help you ensuring that you are taking good care of your mind, body and soul.

Let’s begin:

  1. Sleeping Well

First and probably most important thing you need to start caring about is your sleep. I know it sounds cliche, but don’t underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep which should be somewhere around 7 to 8 hours!  Getting ample sleep is so important. You can’t really be very functional next day if you keep feeling tired all the time.

We all are guilty of either binge watching or taking our phones to bed at sleep O’clock! Develop a sleep routine and try your best to goto bed (for sleeping, NOT for binge watching or phone surfing 😛 ) every night at same time. If you will not be able to sleep at that time, don’t worry and keep trying for few nights, good habits take time 🙂 I actually have a suggestion: try sleep meditation if you haven’t yet! It works most of the time.

2. Eating Clean

This is another thing which is definitely super important too to maintain a healthy lifestyle; hence one of the practices of Self-care. When I say practice eating clean, I am aware of the fact that its almost impossible to eat clean 100% of the time but trust me if you will able to do that at least for about 90-95% of time, you win! Small tweaks in your diet can make a huge difference in your lifestyle, daily performance for work and other activities. Because you feel what you eat. If you eat clean, you feel healthy if you eat crap, you feel lethargic.

Understand that the food you put into your body has a direct effect not only on your mood and energy level, but also on the quality and length of your life.

3. Exercising

Try to stay as active as you can. Staying active doesn’t mean you’ve to hit the gym for 2 or more hours or burn X amount of calories everyday. I mean if you do that and you know its good for you, then you do you but if you’re someone who is not able to take time to commit to gym everyday, you don’t have to. Make a workout routine in which try to do a mix of cardio and strength training exercises at least 3-4 days a week. Rest of the days even if you go for a leisure walk of 30 minutes each day, trust me you still are doing just fine. Find what works for you and go with it!

4.  Learning To Say No

Learning to say no is really hard. Many of us feel obligated to say yes when someone asks for our time or energy. However, if you’re already stressed or overworked, saying yes to loved ones or coworkers can lead to burnout, anxiety, and irritability.

Knowing when to say “no” is one of the self-care activities that people have the most trouble with. It may take a little practice, but once you learn how to politely say no, you’ll start to feel more empowered.

Carefully choose when you say “yes” and make sure you are only agreeing to activities or requests that align with your values or bring you happiness.

5. Do Not Neglect Your Mental & Emotional Health

In the journey of life, where the physical health is very important, most of the times we do not give same kind of attention to our Emotional and Mental well-being.

Mental health is much more than a diagnosis. It’s your overall psychological well-being—the way you feel about yourself and others as well as your ability to manage your feelings and deal with everyday difficulties, that’s why It’s very important to take care of mental health too. Taking care of your mental health also means taking steps to improve your emotional health on your own.  If you feel overwhelmed with any kind of negative emotions, then know that its time for some self-assessment. Find out why are you feeling the way you do. What can you do to change it? May be talk to a loved one or a friend who understands you and share how you feel about any particular situation in your life. However, if that is not possible or available, then engage yourself in the activities that can help in relieving stress for that moment. Take one day at a time and tell yourself it’s okay to feel like this sometimes and promise yourself to replace each negative thought with a positive one! Making these changes will pay off in all aspects of your life. It can boost your mood, build resilience, and add to your overall enjoyment of life.

How do we actually do this?

It may sound very huge, but it’s not impossible. Remember it’s not a one day job. To begin with, try to develop a Self-care plan that is suitable to your current needs and priorities in life. Self-care isn’t a one-size-fits-all strategy. Your self-care plan will need to be customized according to your needs. For example a Self-care plan of a busy student will be different from a Self-care plan of a mom or a retired person. Analyze which areas of your life need more attention and care than others and build a Self-care plan accordingly.

You don’t have to tackle everything all at once. Take one small step to begin caring for yourself better. And just like that when you find yourself caring for all aspects of yourself and your life, you’ll find that you are able to operate more effectively and efficiently and enjoying life a bit more each day 🙂

What are some things that you like to practice as Self-care? I am still working on #4 . 😛 Happy ‘almost’ weekend!

MAC Lipstick Collection (Lip Swatches)

After picking up my first MAC lipstick 6 years ago, I quickly became obsessed with this brand. I think, most of you (lippie lovers) will agree with me that Mac lipsticks are cult favorite!

Today, in this post, I am sharing the lip swatches of all the lipstick and lipliners by Mac Cosmetics that I have collected over the past couple of years.

If you’re into Mac lipsticks too and have been keeping an eye on some particular shades (maybe in this collection), then it is a good opportunity for you to go through this post as it may help some of you with same skin tone as me to decide which shade you should or should not pick for yourself! I have not only shared the swatches in this post here, but I will be sharing a mini swatch video on my Instagram handle too (you can find it towards the end of this post). Also, I have NOT done any editing and left the swatch photos untouched for an actual shade idea.

Let’s start with the bullet lipsticks first. But before that, I am adding a picture of me NOT wearing any lipstick, just to give an idea of what my natural lip color is, so that the nude lipstick colors can be clearly differentiate.

Nudes & Browns:

A Girl’s Got Needs

A Girl’s Got Needs Lipstick is a muted, medium brown shade with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish.

Easy Babe

Easy Babe Lipstick is a medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish.

Age/Sex/Location

Age/Sex/Location Lipstick is a muted, medium rosy brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and it has mostly matte finish.

Among the Fireflies

Among the Fireflies Lipstick is a muted, plummy brown with a soft sheen.

Taupe

Taupe is described as a ‘muted reddish-taupe brown’. It has reddish undertones, which brings out peachy on my warm skin tone.

Double Shot

Double Shot is described as ‘muted reddish-taupe brown’. It has an amplified finish. The color coverage is opaque while the texture is smooth and creamy.

Velvet Teddy

Velvet Teddy is described as ‘deep-tone beige’ and it’s a medium, rosy brown with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish.

Mull It Over

Mull It Over Powder Kiss Lipstick is described as a ‘dirty peach’ which looks like a muted, medium rosy coral with warm undertones and it has a semi-matte finish.

Chili

MAC describes Chili as ‘Brownish-Orange-Red’ with Matte finish. This shade is a perfect blend of brown and orange.

Pinks & Plums:

Syrup

This shade is described as a ‘cloudy pink’ lip color. It is a cool-toned cloudy pink that looks almost like Mauve. Syrup has a lustre finish.

Twig

Twig Lipstick is described as ‘soft muted brownish-pink’ which is a medium pink with warm undertones and a satin finish.

Captive

Mac describes this shade as a ‘pinkish plum’ shade. The texture of this satin lipstick is creamy and at the same time matte, that is semi-matte kinda finish.

Breathing Fire

Breathing Fire Lipstick is described as ‘bright warm fuchsia’  with a matte finish. Beautiful bright pink with warm undertone.

Flat Out Fabulous

Flat Out Fabulous Lipstick is described as a ‘bright plum’ matte with a Retro Matte finish. For me, this is more like dark magenta shade which again compliments almost every skin tone.

Reds:

All Fired Up

All Fired Up Lipstick is described as a ‘bright fuchsia’ matte. It has Retro Matte finish. In my personal opinion, this is a red color lipstick with hues of bright pink in it.

Ruby Woo

Ruby Woo Lipstick is described as very matte ‘vivid blue red’. It has a retro matte finish. This a very beautiful red shade, compliments almost every skin tone. The only downside of this lipstick is that it is more on drier side.

Lip Pencils:

Spice

Spice is a medium rusty brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It gives an opaque pigmentation in a single stroke.

Fruit Cocktail

The shade is described by MAC as a ‘bright coral’. It is a slightly orange leaning mostly towards coral. The shade looks fairly bright coral on me.

Edge to Edge

MAC describes Edge to Edge as a ‘dirty blue-pink’. It looks beautiful blush kinda pink on my skin tone.

Candy Yum Yum

This shade is described as ‘bright pink’ and comes with a matte finish. It’s more of a neon, blue-based pink.

Magenta

Magenta is described as ‘Vivid Pinkish Purple’. Its a cool toned blue based bright fuchsia purple pink shade with soft blue purple duo chrome sheen to it.

Cherry

Mac describes Cherry as ‘A Bright Vivid Blue Red’. Its an opaque matte lipliner with barely blue-toned red.

Burgundy

Burgundy Lip liner is described as ‘Brownish Burgundy’ shade. Its a warm toned deep burgundy wine shade which, in my opinion, is flattering on every skin tone!

So, this was the entire collection of lip products by Mac that I own. What are some of your favorites? Do let me know 🙂

Have a lovely (rest of the) week! ❤

I have one shade to share with you all today and that is: Carina’s Star. As I just mentioned above, it is a matte revolution formula.

Review:

‘Carina’s Star’ is a homage to Hong Kong actress named Carina Lau. It is a medium peachy shade with a soft coral and warm undertones .

Without Flashlight

It has a satin sheen. The texture is very lightweight, smooth and velvety. The color payoff is medium to semi-opaque and I had to swipe 2-3 times to get the desired color on my lips. It lasted for about 4 hours on me and faded eventually.

With Flashlight

The formula is non-drying, but you have to be real careful about exfoliating your lips before you apply it on your lips as for me, my lips started getting flaky only within 3-4 hours of the application. There is a subtle scent to it, nothing unpleasant. Also, this one is a non-transfer proof formula. You can see the swatches here:

Final Thoughts

If we talk about the shade itself then I think, this one is very wearable peachy shade for summer. Their packaging is gorgeous and I like the fact that they are refillable. But if we talk about longevity, then its not a very good option, I’d say! Also, it transfers easily and fades quickly. And from price point of view too, its quite expensive (hello luxury!). So if you’re one who consider all these things before buying a lipstick or lip product, then I’m afraid, this collection is not for you! But if you’re someone, a lipstick junkie (like myself), who just want to try out every single lipstick in the market 😛 then you should just go and get it for the sake of beautiful shade range and luxurious packaging!

One more thing, if you think (by looking at the swatches), that you really liked the shade of this particular lipstick but you are not ready to spend this much, then I have a dupe for you. It’s by Mac Cosmetics and the shade is called ‘Mull It Over’. This is one of the shades from their Powder Matte Lipstick collection. Bothe of these shades look absolutely similar on me.
