tenoverten Nail Polish: Liberty

tenoverten is a nail polish brand that caught my eye during my recent visit to Target. It is a polish brand that was started by a salon in NYC. The polishes from this brand are 8-free + Vegan + Cruelty-free.

These retail for $12 each for the volume of .45 fl oz. These polishes have high shine and a glossy finish.

There were quite a few shades that I liked but I only picked one for now.  The name of the shade that I picked is liberty. It is a dusty sage green, looks more like a mint green but the brand describes it as a “dusty mint” shade.

It has a thick and non-streaky formula. I didn’t use a base or top coat here. The finished application after 2 coats looks good but 3 was even better (as you can see in the photos). It is totally opaque after a third coat.

First Coat

Second Coat

Third Coat

The formula is much easier to work with when applied over itself, though I did still find myself applying it slowly in case of running. It does not dry rapidly, so I had to wait in between coats.

I am glad I gave tenoverten a go because I think I scored a very beautiful color. I may try a few more shades in the future.

Have you seen tenoverten at your Target?

Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

See you soon in the next post. ❤

Monthly Empties: (February)

Hello everyone! Happy first day of March! 🙂

Last month I shared my first empties post of the year. Today, I am going to share another one. I am also sharing the brief reviews of all the products I was able to use up last month. Let’s start with the Mac Strobe Cream first.

Mac Strobe Cream

I purchased two tubes of strobe cream a while back. This is the first one, and the other one I haven’t started using yet. This strobe cream can be used under makeup as a base or over makeup as a highlighter. It can also be mixed with other cream products like moisturizer or foundation. The way I like to use it is as a base under my foundation. I think this product is okay. I didn’t find anything exclusive about it. It is not one of the must-haves in your makeup vanity. You can totally skip it if you want. But if you want to give it try, I’ll recommend trying the travel size first and see if you want to splurge in a standard size or not according to your liking and need.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+

According to the brand, “Mac Prep + Prime Fix+ is a lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, and infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh skin. It gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup.”

So, basically it’s a facial mist that you can use to set makeup or just spray to get an instant hydration on your skin. I liked this product but I have tried better setting sprays in same price range. So I won’t bother to repurchase it. It is a good mist but it is really expensive for the result it provides.

Garnier Fructis Hair Mask

This product is hands down, one of the best hair products out there!! Let me start by saying that this hair mask is so gentle on your hair, specially if you have frizzy, weak and thin hair. Give this a try. I promise you won’t regret it. It keeps my hair shiny and smooth until the next wash (which is after 3-4 days). It has a very good fragrance. You can use this product in three different ways: Conditioner, Mask, Leave-in. I’m onto my second tub of this product. Trust me I’ve tried so many different conditioners over the time but for now I am sticking to this one. One tub lasted me 3 months. It is absolutely worth every penny.

CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion

I am glad I tried the mini size of this lotion because it took lesser time to finish it. This is the first time I tried this lotion and sadly I didn’t like it. The consistency of this lotion is too runny. As a result, it takes too much time to soak in. I have a combination skin type which tends to get drier in winter months. It didn’t provide my skin enough hydration. It is fragrance free. It is an okay overall daily moisturizer. It worked well for many people but I feel that it didn’t do much for my skin.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil

I purchased this skin oil during my pregnancy. The brand claims that it helps to improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, dry, damaged & aging skin. It says it also improves the uneven skin tone, fine lines & wrinkles.

I don’t think it worked much for all the other things that the brand claims but it does make skin softer & smoother after the regular usage. It has a smell of cocoa which feels good but if you are pregnant it may bother you. The overall feel of this oil isn’t bad. It actually feels light on the skin. I used this oil all over my body except my face. I liked this oil. It makes your skin feel healthy. You can give it a try if you’ve a really dry skin but you may not see it working much for fading scars or stretch marks etc.

fresh Rose Face Mask

I purchased this mask a few months back as a part of a mask set from fresh‘s website. They have a very good range of skincare. I love face masking and I love trying new ones. This mask promises to hydrate and tone. It has a gel texture and few bits of rose petals in it. It smells good. I don’t really know about the toning part but it hydrates the skin after few uses and it is very gentle on the skin. I may like to repurchase it after I’m done with all the masks I already have. This soothes the skin and I really like that feel when skin needs a little rejuvenation.

This is all for today. Hope you liked this post.

Thank you for stopping by. 🙂

See you soon in the next post. ❤

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Collection (Swatches)

Hello everyone!

Charlotte Tilbury is a well-known brand for their cosmetics. Lipsticks have always been my favorite makeup products to use as far as I remember. Hence, I love to try lipsticks from different makeup brands. Being a lipstick (or makeup) lover like that, I find it so informative to watch makeup tutorials or read blogposts, specially that contains lipstick swatches on various skin tones. This way you can see how a particular shade looks on any given skin tone and also can get an idea before trying it on yourself if you’ve a similar skin tone. This is the whole idea behind today’s blogpost.

In today’s post I am sharing the swatches of all the CT lipsticks that I own so that you can get an idea of how a particular shade looks like if you are somewhere near my skintone.

Without further ado, let’s begin the swatch party 🙂 enjoy!

Note: I am going to add the pictures of both the arm swatches and the lip swatches. Please scroll through to not miss anything.

From Top to Bottom: Lip pencil Hot Gossip, Lip pencil Pillow Talk, JK Magic,Amazing Amal, Viva La Vergara, Pillow Talk (original), Carina’s Star

Let’s start with the lipstick tubes first.

Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk is a very popular shade by the brand. I purchased this particular shade merely because of the popularity. You can see in the pictures below how it looks on me. The formulation of this lipstick is creamy and buildable and the finish has a soft matte effect.

Carina’s Star

This is my most favorite shade from the bunch. I really love the way it looks on my skin tone. As you can see in the picture below, it is a muted, medium coral shade with warm orange undertones and has a satin sheen. The texture of this lipstick is lightweight, smooth and velvety. The color payoff is medium to semi-opaque and it feels non-drying on the lips.

JK Magic

JK Magic is a very pretty nude beige shade. It has a cream finish and it feels extremely moisturizing on the lips after the application. The texture of this lipstick is very light and comfortable to wear.

Amazing Amal

Amazing Amal is a berry-pink lipstick shade that has a matte finish. It has a semi-opaque pigmentation. The texture is velvety and smooth which feels lightweight on the lips. As you can see in the picture below, this is how it looks on me.

Viva La Vergara

Next is Viva La Vergara. Viva La Vergara is a gorgeous soft wine matte lipstick shade. The lipstick has a matte finish and is originally from their Matte Revolution collection. Viva La Vergara and Amazing Amal might look like twins, but Amazing Amal is a more brighter red while the Viva La Vergara has a warmer undertone.

Walk of No Shame

Walk of No Shame is a moderately warm-toned, berry shade with a hint of red undertones and almost has a velvety matte finish. It has fairly opaque coverage. Checkout the pictures below to get an idea how it looks on my skin.

Lip Liners

For the lip liners, I own two shades from the brand.

Pillow Talk

The Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk shade is a nude color with slightly more pink tone.

It is very pigmented. Only thing I dislike about this lip liner is the formula which is extremely drying. Because it is drying, I’d recommend to just use it for lining purpose rather than filling in the lips. I really really love this shade on me. It is very close to my original lip color. If I ever decide to go for that natural no makeup look, I’d go for this shade but I will always wear a clear lip gloss or lip balm over it to get that non-drying look because it is very dry on its own.

Hot Gossip

Hot Gossip is an extremely gorgeous medium brown shade with slightly pink undertone. It is a universally flattering shade, no matter your skin tone. The only biggest downside I found in this lip liner, again, is dryness and because of that, it looks patchy on the lips, as you can see in the picture below.

This is it for today. Lemme know your thoughts. Which is your favorite shade in the bunch and which one would you like to try?

Hope you’re having a great weekend. ❤

See y’all soon in the next post.

Until then…

‘Valentine’ By REVLON: NOTW

Valentine’s Day isn’t exactly everyone’s thing but most of us like to celebrate this day with our loved ones. Whether you’re happily in a relationship, or you’re single, it is all about celebrating love, friendship and all the romantic/loving things or people in your life. ❤

Some of us like to dress up for the occasion and some of us like to even get a Vday inspired mani-pedi too.

I usually like painting my nails at home. For me personally, It is feasible as well as less time consuming. Just a personal preference. That is the reason I have a good collection of nail polishes too. I like to change my polish every other week or so.

Since it’s Valentine’s day, I thought why not wear red nails this time. I don’t wear red nails very frequently. I gravitate more towards other colors like neutrals, greens and blues etc.

The nail polish that I chose to wear today is from Revlon and the shade name is ‘Valentine’.

Valentine is a deep, vampy, blood red polish with the consistency of a jelly but the finish of a cream polish. The formula is quite good actually. It’s somewhere in between a ruby or blood red, depending on the lighting and number of coats.

I got the desired opaqueness in three coats, although two coats weren’t bad either. I really liked this red on my skin. 🙂 I definitely recommend this shade if you’re looking for this kind of red nail polish.

What are your favorite red polishes at the moment that you want to recommend? Would love to hear 🙂

Wish y’all a very Happy Valentine’s day! ❤

See you soon in the next post.

Monthly Empties (of January 2022)

Wow… it’s February already!? Where did the time go?

So much has changed in these last two years. Can’t believe we’re still in a pandemic. I feel that the pandemic has changed the way of life, the way people think and the way things work, now.

Blogging has always been my happy place. But during these last two years, so much was going on that I eventually lost the motivation to keep going so I decided to take a break from blogging. It was the right thing to do at that point. I guess, we all were/are struggling in one or the other way.

But now, as the life seems coming back to track slowly, I wanted to make a comeback too.🤞

This is going to be my first post of the year and I thought what could be better than starting with an ’empties’ post. Trust me, it is so satisfying to finish a product completely before tossing it away. Its a great feeling 🙂

In this post, you’ll see a bit of beauty but mostly skincare product empties. Most of the products are in travel/mini size. I prefer to buy the skincare/makeup products in their mini sizes now (if available) because I feel it is easier to finish it up before their expiry dates. And if you end up not liking something, you don’t have to stick to it till eternity 😀

Without further ado, let’s dive in.

1. Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm

The first product in the bunch is this makeup removing balm from Farmacy. I really liked using this product. It is gentle on the skin and does the job (of removing makeup) perfectly. I loved the fact that a little goes a long way. It has a mild scent which was okay for me. I already re-purchased this one and I think I am going to stick to this one for couple more months before moving to some other makeup remover.

2. SUPERGOOP! Unseen Sunscreen

We all know how important it is to wear sunscreen everyday. And we all know how difficult it is to find the right one according to our unique skin needs. For me, like most of us, I like to get the one that should not only be gentle on my skin but also doesn’t leave any white cast behind. And I think, Supergoop definitely create products with their customers in mind! They have a really interesting sunscreen product range. This is my favorite sunscreen currently, for sure.

3. Hask Argan Hair Oil

This hair oil definitely leaves the hair silky, soft and shiny after applying. I use this oil on my dry hair after washing. It doesn’t have any sticky feel. Instead, It feels light on the hair. I don’t wear oil on my hair on daily basis but whenever I do, I reach for this one. This has become an important part in my haircare routine.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Absolutely absolutely loved using this brow pencil by ABH. I’d love to keep re-purchasing it. The only reason I won’t is because I want to try other brow products in the market. That is all I’ve to say for this one 🙂

5. Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb

I have tried a good number of eye creams over the past few years because I’ve got this darkness under my eye area aka dark circles. Some of them worked, some didn’t. This one from Belif, I really really liked because it worked for me. After using this cream religiously under my eye area, day and night for a month, I noticed a huge improvement in the texture and hydration level, because of which, there is reduction in the darkness of under eye skin. I am glad I tried this cream and I am continuing to use it for long time, I guess.

6. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Next up is this cleanser that I used by Cetaphil. As the brand claims, this cleanser was very mild on the skin. The texture was on thicker side. There was no foam, no scent whatsoever. It was an okay product for me. Not much excited about it though.

7. Botanics 100% Organic Daily Facial Oil

I remember the time when I used to love the overall feel of facial oils on my face to achieve that dewiness but that feel didn’t last long. Instead, I prefer to use the moisturizer for multiple times during the day now.

This particular facial oil is by Botanics which I purchased a while back from Target. I had an okay experience using it. The only thing I disliked in it was the scent. I, anyhow, managed to finish it and I think, I am over the facial oils now. They don’t excite me anymore.

8. elf Happy Hydration Cream

We all know that e.l.f. Cosmetics has some wonderful drugstore makeup products. I had heard some great things about their skincare line too. Thats why I decided to try this face cream. When I started using it first, I found it okay. Nothing extra ordinary about it. But there are two things I didn’t like about this cream was the scent and the texture. I found the texture of this cream was a bit tacky, and the scent, a bit too strong for my liking.

That’s it for the last month’s empties. Have you tried any of these? Yes, tell me your thoughts. No, is there anything on your wishlist? Don’t forget to share 🙂

See you soon in the next post. ❤

Amazon ‘Try on Haul’

Hello everyone!

If you’re someone, who enjoy try on hauls a lot, then this post is for you! 🙂 This is a fun post for me as it is my first ever amazon fashion haul. In this haul, I am sharing three skirts and a dress with y’all which I purchased recently and all these items are still available on the website. You can find the links of all these items in the outfit details that I have shared along with the pictures.

Let’s begin…

Note: For Size Reference: I’m 5’2” petite. I typically wear US size S, MP or size 6-8 in tops and dresses.

Dress

First thing I’d like to talk about is this cute dress. I bought this dress in size Medium. The fabric of this dress is thick enough that allows it to lay nicely. But at the same time, it is very lightweight that makes it extremely comfortable to wear. This dress has pockets too. This is how this dress looks on me:

Price: $19.99 free delivery & free returns with Amazon Prime

Sizing: available in Small-xxl, you can get it here

Skirts

Next in the haul are the three skirts, out of which the Top two skirts I had bought from same seller. Both skirts have pleats and pockets. The waistband has a thick elastic which really helps holding the waistband up, so it doesn’t curl when you sit. As for length, the skirts reach a bit below my knees. I absolutely loved these skirts. I have both these skirts in size Medium. This is how both skirts look on me:

Price: $19.99 (each) free delivery & free returns with Amazon Prime

Sizing: available in Small-3xl, available here and here

The next skirt in the haul I’ve purchased from a different seller than the previous ones. I love the fabric, the print and the style of this particular skirt. If you decide to buy this skirt, be aware of the size chart as I personally found it a little confusing. I ended up ordering size Large in this one and when I tried after it got delivered, it was loose on me. So I had to return and re-order the size Medium which fits perfectly. This is how it looks on me:

Price: $18.60 free delivery & free returns with Amazon Prime

Sizing: available in Small-xxl, available here

To be honest, I’m super impressed with everything I found. Everything is super affordable. All of these finds are under twenty dollars. Also, I’m really impressed with the quality of all the items, especially considering the budget-friendly prices. I have already washed them once and didn’t notice or experience any color fading etc.

That’s all for today! 🙂

I hope you guys enjoyed my first Amazon fashion haul and most of all that it was helpful!  Let me know if you want me to do more of these in the future? Also, be sure to head over to my Instagram to get everyday outfit inspirations as I post ootd flatlys frequently.

Thank you so much for stopping by ❤

MAC ‘Men Love Mystery’ Matte Lipstick: Review & Swatches

Hello everyone!

If you’re following my blog from quite some time now, then you know I am a total lipstick girl 🙂 This is one reason that I love to try new lipstick shades whenever I get a chance 😉

Recently, while exploring Nordstrom’s website, I saw some online beauty deals and there I found this beautiful shade of Mac lipstick, which was on sale. The shade’s name is: ‘Men Love Mystery’.

Men Love Mystery is described as a ‘lavender violet’ lip shade with a Matte finish and it has a moderately warm tone.

The application of this lipstick is very smooth even though it is matte. When I first applied it on my lips, the application was even and opaque, even though I had to swipe 2-3 times to get the desired color on my lips. It had a semi-opaque color payoff with a slightly creamy texture.

It has that wonderful vanilla scent associated with all other MAC lipsticks that I personally enjoy. On me, it lasted for four and a half hours. I did some light eating and drinking while wearing this and there was little transfer of the product.

This is how the shade looks on me:

As you can see, on the top left corner, I’ve added the picture of my bare lips. My lips are naturally pink in color. Here I haven’t used any lipliner under this lipstick. I am very impressed the way it covered my natural lip color completely.

I think this is a gorgeous shade of lipstick. In fact in my opinion, it is a very wearable purple shade. I am totally in love with this lipstick. What do you think about this shade? Do you like wearing purple on your lips? If yes, which ones do you recommend?

Thank you so much for stopping by 🙂

Almay Healthy Hue Blush: Review & Swatches

Hello everyone!

Recently, I made an online Target purchase, in which I ordered some beauty and skincare related items; some of which I recently shared in my last post. If you haven’t checked my last post, feel free to check it here. I shared a skincare haul in that post and in today’s post I am sharing a bit from that purchase which is about Almay’s new Healthy Hue Blushes. At target.com these blushes retail for $8.99 each for 0.17 oz of product in each pan.

In Brand’s Own Words:

According to the brand, “This is lightweight blush for a flush of color. Almay Healthy Hue Blush is formulated with high pigment technology that provides true color payoff. Made with sustainably sourced paper. The lightweight formula blends effortlessly and is buildable from subtle to intense for a smooth lightweight finish.

This Product is not only Clean (formulated without: Phthalates, Propyl-paraben & Butyl-paraben and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)), but also Cruelty Free and/or not tested on animals. Also, it does not contain any synthetic fragrances as well.

Packaging:

The packaging of this blush is different from all the other products from this brand. It is more eco friendly because it is made from recyclable paper. There’s a transparent lid on the top, so you’re able to see the actual color of the blush without opening it. The overall packaging of this blush is made from a cardboard material which closes with a magnetic click. There is no mirror or brush inside whatsoever. As you can see in the pictures, the blush comes in a unique embossed design which looks really pretty.

The shades I’ve picked are:

  • 100 Nearly Nude

  • 200 So Peachy

Nearly Nude

This is a medium nude shade with a warm brownish-peach tone to it. It has a very subtle luminosity to it. It is sheer at first but you can easily build it up to get the desired color on your cheeks.

So Peachy

So Peachy is a very beautiful, perfect peachy shade of blush for Summer. It has a pinky undertone to it with an added sheen.

Swatches:

My Thoughts:

In my opinion, these are very good drugstore blushes. These are cruelty free, fragrance free and are free from all sorts of nasty chemicals. It is a budget friendly option, as you can get this blush under $10 (USD).

Texture wise, both of these blushes apply very smoothly. Pigmentation wise, I don’t think these fall more on sheer side, instead they do add a flush of color to the cheeks which is buildable. Also, the shades are beautiful in each pan.

I, personally really liked these blushes and I am so happy with my purchase! How about you? Have you tried’em yet? What are your thoughts on these blushes? Don’t forget to share 🙂

Sally Hansen Color Therapy ‘Reflection Pool’: NOTW

With the arrival of warm weather, one of my favorite things to add in summer fun is the bright and bold summery nail polish colors. When it comes to taking care of my nails, I’ve been painting my nails at home for as long as I can remember. Hence, I am always on a look for lovely nail polish shades for my collection.

Today I am sharing a post about a very beautiful nail polish color, which in my opinion, is a perfect shade for summer. It is from Sally Hansen’s ‘Color Therapy’ Nail Polish range, a nail polish line that contains argan oil which is supposed to help with hydrating and nourishing of your nails. Argan oil complex is a patented micro-delivery system that contains argan oil, acai and evening primrose oil to condition the weak and dry nails by penetrating the nail beds and nourishing them.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy system contains a glossy top coat and the nail & cuticle oil: both formulated with the same argan oil contained in the nail polish to add an extra dose of nourishment.

The nail polish shade I am sharing today, is called ‘Reflection Pool’ which is a blue/purple duochrome color alongwith medium to heavy shimmer in it. I think this shade is just beautiful and screams ‘a summer day at the beach’ to me. 😀

My daughter was kind enough to model and let me take pictures of her nails wearing this nail polish 😉

She’s wearing three thin coats here, but two will do too. As you can see in the pictures that this is a reflective shade. I only wish I could have captured the duo-chrome shifts a bit better on camera. But I am very impressed with the fact that even though it does have a nice duochrome shift, it leans onto the subtle side and does NOT look too dramatic.

The formula has a sheer application, but builds-up to a great coverage. Consistency wise it leans on the thin side, but doesn’t run to the sides or cuticles. Lots of shimmer in this finish, but it doesn’t complicate removal whatsoever. It dries down to a nice high-shine finish on its own. Also no staining on removal to my nail bed or cuticles.

Overall, Reflection Pool is a total must-have from Sally Hansen if you are into bright bold nail polish colors for the Summer. It can be found at drug stores and mass merchant stores. It is currently available online at target.com as well.

That’s a wrap on this quickie swatch post! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this shade or anything else really. 🙂  Let me know down in the comments what you think and I’ll catch you next time.
