Target (Clean) Skincare Haul & Mini Reviews

Hi all!

I hope you’re all well and safe. 🙂

I am so excited for today’s post. I have a little haul to share. Few days back, I ordered some stuff online from Target. Mostly skincare related. The best part about today’s haul is that all of these products that I purchased from target are from their ‘Clean’ skincare range. Target Clean is a product range in Target store, where you can easily identify the products formulated without specific ingredients you may not want. This range promotes the products that are formulated without propyl-parabens, butyl-parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-donors, nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), Oxybenzone, SLES, retinyl palmitate, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban, BHA and BHT.

Without further ado, let’s begin my Target Clean skincare haul!

1. SunBum Facial Sunscreen

This SPF is a moisturizing sunscreen cream. This sunscreen delivers both UVA/UVB protection and is packed with Vitamin E. This product is both oil-free and water-resistant.

It doesn’t only protect the skin but it’s also Gluten, Cruelty and Paraben Free. I’m very happy with this sunscreen. It also rubs in very well and doesn’t leave a thick white layer on my skin. It has a lighter scent. The texture is creamy and lightweight but it’s not sticky at all.

2. Native Deodorant

I got this deodrant in ‘Lilac & White Tea Scent’. As stated, it’s Aluminum free and Paraben free product.

I like the scent of this deodorant. It smells great however, it doesn’t last long. I love the fact that this deodorant is all natural but for the price value of $12, it only works for 5-6 hours and then I’ve to re-apply. I won’t say it is a bad purchase but I’d be really happy if it would last a bit longer.

Lastly, I think Its a good option if you you are thinking of switching to natural deodorant. They have a ton of scents and baking soda-free versions for those who might be sensitive.

3. Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil

Let me start off by telling you why I decided to buy this product. I have a sensitive skin with combination type. My skin around the nose area, usually stays dry that sometimes becomes flaky if I don’t pay much attention to keep my skin well hydrated and well moisturised.

I was drawn to this facial oil mainly because it was 100% organic. It contains no nasty chemicals such as parabens or sulphates and it only contains a mix of essential oils that seemed really appealing to me because as I mentioned earlier that I have a sensitive skin and I didn’t want to use too many harsh chemicals on my face.

This has a lightweight, non-greasy formula that absorbs quickly into the skin. It hydrates my face well when my skin gets dry without leaving any greasy feel. This facial oil comes in a small glass bottle with a little pipette so you can squeeze out the drops of the oil.

It has rose-hip in it which is great for hydrating and anti-aging of the skin. You don’t have to use a lot of product, a little goes a long way. I like how it has natural organic scent and not a heavy fragrance scent. I’m loving this product so far.

4. Aveeno Repairing CICA Moisturizing Hand & Foot Mask

Ok I’ll start by confessing that I absolutely LOVE this product. It’s my new go to. This is not the first time I’ve purchased this amazing combo of foot-hand masks. These masks are really easy to use as the packing of these masks is absolutely mess free. I love how I can still walk around my home without worrying. I, usually put some nice warm socks on over the mask booties and just let everything soak in. When I take the booties off, I like to rub the leftover product into my ankles. This mask leaves my feet softer and more moisturized than ever.

For hands too, I put on hand mask once every week during night time before sleeping. I leave the mask on for 30-40 minutes and then rub the leftover product onto my arms. I always love the results next morning! Definitely try these out. 🙂 You will NOT be disappointed.

5. Versed Face Masks:

This is my first time using anything from this brand. The reviews were so good, so I had to try these out!

Versed Photos Please Brightening Tightening Face Mask has turmeric and kaolin clay that helps for tightening and brightening.

Whereas, Versed Look Alive Hydrating Plumping Face Mask contains rosehip seed oil and hydrating aloe leaf juice.

Each of these packets contains 12+ applications! I’ve used these masks twice and I noticed these masks were neither harsh or drying on my skin. I like them so far. I also like how clean the application is: No mess whatsoever. And I love that the ingredients are safe for my body and skin.

So this sums up my mini Target haul. I hope you liked it 🙂 Lemme know what is your favorite product from this haul! Can’t wait to hear from you!

Thanks for reading.

5 Amazing Ideas To Spend Mother’s Day This Year

Mother’s Day is almost here, and it’s likely to be a little different this year in the days of quarantine and social distancing. But that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate this day.

Whether you’re celebrating your mother or you are mother yourself, it’s always fun to find ways to make this day special and memorable.

As a mother, I know how much effort many young children put together to create thoughtful crafts at the school, to take home specially for their moms  during the regular school days. Now, if your kids are older or teenagers, they can find the ways to celebrate this day with you but if your kids are younger or say under 10, you can’t really expect much from them even if their spirits are high for celebrating this day for YOU!

Hence, in today’s post, I am sharing few ideas on how you can make this year’s mother’s day special both for you and your kids.

  1. Plan a Memorable Photo Session

Family pictures are every mom’s weakness! Right now you may not be able to have a professional mother’s day photoshoot done, but what you can do is to plan a fun photoshoot at home. Make it a whole event by putting on some music, getting dressed together, and even creating a fun backdrop. Photos are a great way to create and recall fond memories. You can try  a casual yet cute “Mother and babies in bed” photoshoot, where they can be playful with each other and capture those delicate moments full of love. Or you can try yet another (my favorite) “matching from head to toe” fun photoshoot with your gang which I am sure, will make some of the cutest and loveliest captures ever.

  1. Plan a Tea Party

Next fun celebration idea is to plan a tea party for yourself and the kids. Not only are tea parties fun for both mommy & kids, but also its an easy event to plan. All you need to do is just to boil some tea, bake some treats, setup a table and and you have a party!

If you’re not in mood for doing much (which I totally understand 😉 ), you can stick with simple fillings like peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese and turkey and mayonnaise, or a strawberry cream cheese spread can be a guaranteed winner. Simply trim off the crust or even better give these sandwiches a cute shape using a cookie cutter and you’ll see how these mini treats will become instantly favorites of your kids.

3. Plant Something Together

Children are always curious. This mother’s day you can involve them in gardening by simply purchasing a few clay pots. You can spend some quality time together to paint your pots and then plant some flowers or herbs into them. This way your children will be excited and enjoy caring for and watering the plants all spring and summer long.

Gardening with kids have many benefits. It is a great way to teach about the environmental awareness to kids. It also help teaching kids responsibility as plants require a lot of care.

Gardening also introduce kids to the scientific concepts. Like you can tell them what makes the leaves green? What do plants need to thrive? How much water does the plant need? etc.

Last but not least, Gardening helps teaching kids patience. Growing from seed to producing plant can take weeks! There’s no better teacher of patience than gardening.

4. Prepare Whole Day’s Meal In Advance

Brunch on Mother’s Day was and is a fantastic tradition. But since we can’t go out anywhere for brunch, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it. By planning ahead, we can still manage to do it at home. So rather than waking up at an obscene hour to cook something nice for mother’s day, you can plan to cook food for the whole next day in advance and can enjoy it on mother’s day. That way, you’ll be able to enjoy the morning and whole day without being stuck in kitchen the entire day.

5.  Record a Video Of Entire Day

Now this is something which I consider quite easy and fuss free. When you’re not in mood of doing anything on Mother’s day, except either staying in PJs or in bed, you can just record various mini video snippets on your phone and then can edit it later to create a wonderful Mother’s Day video by adding some music to it. By taking the advantage of  digital format like this, you can easily make memories for lifetime. And you’ll be glad and so proud to have something so cute and adorable to cherish forever.

Last but not least, I’d like to add that don’t forget to take the time to compliment yourself this Mother’s Day and recognize the truly wonderful and loving gift that you are to your kids. ❤

I hope you liked these ideas 🙂 . Don’t forget to share if you’re going to try something from this list or if you’ve some other unique ideas of your own to celebrate this special day.

I wish all the Mother figures out there a very Happy Mother’s Day! ❤ ❤

5 Things Keeping Me Sane Right Now

While the whole world is coping with difficult circumstances (because of the ongoing pandemic), it’s normal to feel anxious.  Some days it feels tough to find even a reason to smile. We all may be busy with homeschooling, work or family, but at some point or another we all find ourselves feeling inescapably bored, distressed and  trapped inside our homes. For most of us, being in quarantine is a totally new experience. We’ve never known a life of strictly working from home, only going out for groceries, and not being able to visit friends or family. Living life like this is taking a toll on our mental health.

However, fortunately there are still quite a few things we can all do to keep ourselves sane as well as happy under these odd circumstances. Today I’m sharing 5 such things/activities that are helping me to keep going and help me staying strong during this uncertain period.

  1. Meditation

I am sure, many of you’ll agree on this with me that Meditation provides a firm connection with divine while practicing quietness and stillness. It is something that changes the way you experience every moment of your life.

This is a habit I have been cultivating for the past 1 year now. I started meditating 3-4 times a week initially but these days, I try to meditate almost every day. I’ve noticed that I feel less stressed and feel more in tune with my mind and body.

2. Exercising:

Second most important thing on my list these days is exercising (indoors). Not that I wasn’t into exercising earlier, but staying active now under these circumstances, is much more important than ever. Exercising not only lifts the mood, but also helps in boosting the immunity. It also helps in managing stress which can help in a better sleep, both of which can be difficult when schedules are disrupted.

Staying physically healthy during times of stress is just as crucial as managing your emotional and mental health. So these days I try to do a combination of different exercises. I don’t force myself to exercise on any particular time. I just give myself freedom to do it whenever I get time or I feel like. The only thing I make sure is to exercise at least 5 days a week to reap the maximum benefit.

3. Journaling:

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we already have into ‘enough’ and much more. It is one of the strongest and most transformative states of being because it shifts your perspective from ‘Lack to Abundance’ and allows you to focus on the ‘good’ in your life.

Journalling is something that I’ve started doing in the beginning of 2020. This is definitely not something that I force myself to do every day. But whenever there’s a pressing issue that I can’t seem to get out of my head, I keep writing until I have nothing left to say about it. Journaling has definitely changed my perspective towards life.

To practice gratitude, all you have to do is to write down 3 things that you are grateful for every single day especially on bad days when you feel stressed, upset, disappointed, and angry. As we practice gratitude, we become increasingly aware that there’s always something to be thankful for, even in the bleakest situation.

4. Planting

Taking care of plants (indoors or outdoors) takes a whole lot of attention because it requires detail, effort, and patience. Every time a new leaf unfurls, it’s one of the most rewarding feelings you get.

I have accumulated few houseplants over the past few weeks. I dedicate roughly 10-20 minutes every day in plant care. As surprising as it sounds, I truly believe that they have helped me to stay positive and feel less anxious.

If you struggle to stay positive or your thoughts frequently spiral after a long day, I highly suggest investing in a plant or two. I promise you won’t regret it.

5. Baking

I never thought I’d admit this but I am enjoying baking like I have never enjoyed it before. 😀

You may be wondering how in the world can Baking help in keeping anyone sane?!

Believe it or not it has been proved that baking can bring many psychological benefits to a person, one of which is stress relief. Research says that baking is actually very good for focusing the mind because it often relies on very exact measurements. For example, you will have to add all the ingredients in the correct order and measurements or your cookies will be soggy. Just like that when you have complete focus on a recipe and you don’t allow yourself to be distracted by your thoughts, it can have a therapeutic affect on your mental and emotional health. And I’m sure, like me, many of you are already indulged in baking by now 😉

At last, I just want to add that I know the times are harder right now, but so are we! If you haven’t already then find and start doing things that can make you happy and less anxious. Remember to take a leap of faith and stay hopeful that this shall pass too 🙂  Stay home Stay safe ❤

CT ‘The Gift Of Pillow Talk Lips’: Review & Swatches

Few months ago, Charlotte Tilbury launched a limited edition gift set. It includes:

  • A Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk (3.5 g / 0.12 oz)
  • A Mini Lip Cheat Pencil in Pillow Talk (0.8 g / 0.02 oz)

I purchased this gift set few weeks back for 35$ (USD). In my opinion it was  a wonderful deal to try the ‘fan favorite shade Pillowtalk’ not only in the pencil form but also in the form of lipstick.  I ordered this gift set directly from the Charlotte Tilbury online shop. Here’s how it looks:

Both the lipstick and lip cheat pencil comes within this beautiful gift box. When you first open the box, you see two sections where both the lipstick and lip pencil are securely placed. The lipstick is cased in the usual luxurious rose gold packaging as you can see below:

My Thoughts:

* Mini Lip Cheat Pencil in Pillow Talk lipliner was my first ever purchase from this brand. Before buying this gift set, I already had the Pillowtalk lipliner in my collection. This particular shade is a very beautiful ‘pinky nude’ in color which in my opinion isnot too pale, not too pink, and not too nude. It’s just a perfect mixture of all. The texture of this lipliner is very creamy and smooth. It’s completely matte but non drying at the same time. Even though it has a matte finish, it doesn’t tug on my lips.It feels very light on the lips. Having that said, I do suggest to exfoliate and prep your lips before for a better experience. The best thing I like about about this lipliner is that’s it’s light enough to wear it under your lipstick without feeling too much going on, and its pigmented enough to wear it on its own without needing the lipstick, as the pigmentation level is incredibly rich and opaque. For me particularly, the shade of this lipliner somewhat matches to the natural color of my lips. So whenever I wear it alone, it feels like my lips but better!

* Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Matte Revolution is a muted, medium pink lipstick with warmer undertones and a semi-matte finish. Unlike the Pillow Talk Lipliner, It has an added sheen to it which makes is more hydrating and non-drying on the lips. It has a medium, buildable color coverage with a velvety, smooth finish. It comes in the form of slightly rectangular bullet.

Here, in the top I am wearing the lipliner alone and in the bottom I am wearing the lipstick alone on both lips!

Here, in the picture below, I have ‘lipliner only’ on the top lip and ‘lipstick only’ on the bottom lip. You can notice how similar both shades look with a slight sheen in the lipstick (bottom) and with a bit more matte in lipliner (top).

And just above, I tried to kiss on my hand to see how much both products transfer, you can hardly see the lipliner on my hand as compare to the lipstick.

The picture below shows the different times during the day. I first wore both the lipliner and lipstick together at 1 in the afternoon. Then I had lunch and you can see a slight wear off. Around 5, it actually started fading but still there was a good amount of product left on my lips. And then around 8 after having dinner, it was almost gone!

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Pillow Talk’ gift set didn’t disappoint me. Why? I’d like to start with the price. The price of original Pillow Talk lipstick is 34$ (USD) and full size Lipliner costs 22$ (USD). While in this set, you’ll get the same amount of lipstick with an additional mini lipliner just for 35$. Isn’t that an amazing deal?!

Next, I’d like to talk about the shade itself. When I first wanted to buy this particular shade in the lipliner, I was a bit skeptical if the shade was going to compliment my skin tone or not? But to my surprise, I didn’t only end up loving this shade but it has become one of my top favorite shades in my lipstick stash.

Now let’s talk about the quality of the product. I find the texture of both lipstick and lip liner are very pleasant. The quality is spot on. As I discussed earlier, both of these products feels very light and not so drying on the lips. I didn’t feel any weird smell or taste in them either.

From longevity point of view, the lipliner lasts a bit longer than the lipstick itself. For the lipstick alone I can get around 3 hours and then after eating something I feel the need to retouch. And for  lipliner alone I get around 4-5 hours of wear but if I combine both of them together, the color stays longer for about 7-8 hours on my lips even after eating or drinking something. It fades evenly throughout the day and don’t leave any stains behind.

I am sure you’d definitely want to know if both of these lip products are transfer proof or not? So, here’s a good news and a bad news. The good news is that the lipliner does not transfer much, but comparatively, the lipstick transfers on the cup or a glass every time I sip something! Hence, here’s another clue to use this lipstick in combination with this lipliner for better results, instead of using it alone.

Last but not least, I want to say that I’m so happy to have both of these lip products in my collection. Its almost amazing to get both of these for such an amazing price! But if you’re on a budget and don’t find this deal anymore anywhere, I would definitely suggest to get the lip liner first! 🙂

Have you tried either of these yet? Don’t forget to share your thoughts ❤

5 Easy Steps To Take Care Of Your Hands

Hello everyone!

I hope y’all are doing well. Globally, we all are going through a very rough time right now because of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. In these hard times, washing hands time after time (other than the physical distancing) is one of the most important things we can do right now to stop spreading the bad germs.

While keeping our hands clean by washing’em again and again is a great thing but we all know what can happen to our skin  when we expose our skin to water much frequently. It can become really dry and itchy which can lead to skin irritation. In that case, it becomes even more important to take proper care to protect your hands skin.

Hence in today’s post, I am sharing few steps that will give you an idea on how you can take care of your hands without putting too much effort.

Do Not Use Too Hot or Too Cold Water

Number one rule which many of us are tend to ignore, is to use the luke warm water for your skin.  Using either too hot or too cold water dries out our skin which can cause a significant damage. So it’s important to make sure that whenever you are going to wash your hands, you’re using the right temperature of water.

Keep Your Hands Moisturized

I know it’s little hard to keep reminding yourself to apply moisturizer after every time you wash your hands. Daily normal activities that involves water can easily dry out your hands. So it’s beneficial if we keep our hands moisturized as much as we can.

Here’s an easy way out: Keep your lotions/hand creams at more than one place in your home. You don’t have to buy so many products at one time. Just transfer  some product in old empty skincare bottles and keep them at different places of your house. For example: by the kitchen sink, by the bathroom sink, on the nightstand etc. Chances are whenever you’ll see them, you will feel the urge to use them.

Also, take a note that products with shea butter are fantastic for dry hands, and help quenching the dry, parched skin. They hold that much needed hydration in the outer layer of skin, making your hands smoother and softer for longer.

Do Not Skip The SPF

If you’ve noticed, the skin on the back of our hands is very thin. Therefore our hands show the signs of aging first. So, take care of your beautiful skin in this area by applying the SPF to your hands every day. This is probably the most important step of entire routine. Go for something with at least SPF 15. It will not only protect your skin but also help in preventing the dark spots to from because of the sun damage.

Try A Hand Mask

If possible, try to use a hand mask once in a week or two .

There are many good hands masks available in market. But if somehow it’s not possible to get any of them currently, then what you can do is slathering a generous amount of lotion on your hands and then slip your gooey hands into cotton gloves overnight. This makes them retain the moisture all night, and you wake up with incredibly soft hands. The skin on the hands will be thoroughly nourished. Also massage your hands at night for at least five minutes to let the goodness of the moisturizer to soak in. For very rough hands, you can try mixing your moisturizer with a bit of Vaseline too.

Protect Your Hands

It’s always a good idea to keep few pairs of disposable or rubber gloves around the house.

When you are washing dishes, gardening or carrying out any chore that allows your hand to interact with chemicals, grease or dirt, ensure that you are wearing gloves to protect your hands. You might find wearing them uncomfortable at first, but it’s worth the effort. Keep a couple of pairs of elbow-length rubber gloves around for heavy cleaning.

So these were few easy tips to remind you that taking good care of your hands doesn’t have to be a major task at all. There are little things that you can do every day to help your hands look and feel better. I hope these tips will be helpful and easy to adapt. 🙂 Stay safe!

Dry Brushing 101

Few years back I got to know about Dry Body Brushing. This beauty/skincare technique became very popular among people very soon because of its numerous health benefits and also because its a fast and very effective body exfoliation method.

If you’re interested to know more about dry brushing, please keep on reading!

What is Dry Body Brushing?

Dry brushing is pretty much exactly as it sounds: brushing our skin, when it’s dry. In this process we use a brush with stiff bristles against the skin, to not only help exfoliating the dead cells from the skin’s surface but to enhance the blood flow also. It is said to energize the body by increasing the circulation  of the blood flow in the body. Not only this but it has many other health benefits which I am going to share with y’all in this post today.

Benefits of Dry Brushing

1.Exfoliates Dead Skin: As I already mentioned above, this technique is very helpful in removing the dead & dry skin cells which in return helps in clearing the clogged pores.  Exfoliation  encourages fresh cell renewal which results in improving the overall appearance of your skin and makes it look even smoother and brighter.

2. Improves Cellulite and Premature Aging: Cellulite is very common for most women (and some men). It is basically a fat deposit under the skin. In our bodies, cellulite is somewhat related to our vein and lymph congestion. Dry brushing can actually help soften those hard fat deposits under the skin and help in distributing them more evenly, which results in diminishing the overall appearance of cellulite. If you choose to follow a proper dry brushing routine, it can help in speeding up the metabolism by breaking down fatty deposits or toxins in the blood stream.

3. Stimulates Your Lymphatic System: In our bodies, Lymph is a very slow moving fluid that works in removing metabolic waste or toxins from our internal system. When your lymphatic system is not working properly, waste and toxins can build up and make you sick. Lymphatic congestion is a major factor leading to inflammation and diseases. When you dry brush your skin, it increases circulation of blood by stimulating the nerves that run just below the skins surface. The motions you use while dry brushing helps to stimulate your lymphatic system  therefore removing toxins and pathogens more quickly. Hence, dry brushing is a very powerful detoxification aid as well.

4. Boosts Blood Circulation: As you may know until now that dry brushing helps increasing the circulation of blood in your body. Your body is pushing more blood in those areas where you’ve been dry brushing. Improved blood circulation and supply of oxygen assure that the cells of the central nervous system is well nourished and more efficient. Poor blood circulation can lead to many health problems. So it’s very important to keep your circulatory system healthy to prevent poor heath conditions.

Selecting A Dry Brush

There are mainly two styles of brushes you can choose from: one with a long handle, and one without a handle. No matter whichever brush you pick, try to choose a brush with natural fibers.

I have both versions of brushes. Preferably, on a regular basis, I use a firm, natural bristle brush with the long handle, which allows me to reach my entire back and easily brush the bottoms of my feet and the back of my legs. Though the handled version seems more practical for me, I do keep the handleless version too as it comes in handy for traveling purposes because of its smaller size.

How and When to Dry Brush?

You can dry-brush during any time of the day, but its best if done before hopping into the bath or shower. As I said earlier, dry brushing is a great exfoliant, and it’s good to get the dry skin off before you take shower.

To get maximum benefit from dry brushing, start brushing at the soles of your feet and brush upward toward the heart paying special attention to joints where the lymphatic fluid can collect.

Similarly, when you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward. Use firm, small strokes upward, or work in a circular motions.

For the stomach, work in a clockwise direction. Harsh exfoliation is never the point; be sure not to press too hard or use a brush that’s too stiff. Dedicate at least three to five minutes to brushing. You should only brush towards the heart.

Also, make sure you adjust the pressure of the brush according to the different parts of your body, so it is comfortable yet stimulating enough to increase the circulation. Also remember, consistency is key and must not forget to moisturize your skin after the shower.

Also, if you are dry-brushing on regular basis, you must use sunscreen, as dry brushing makes your skin even more sensitive to the sun.

Note: Don’t brush too hard! A soft and smooth stroke often works best. The skin can get slightly pink after brushing, but it should never be red or sting. If it hurts at all, use less pressure! Replace the brush every 6-12 months as the bristles will eventually wear out. I also recommend washing the brush every few weeks to remove dead skin cells for a better hygiene.

Is dry body brushing safe for everyone?

As you may have convinced by now that dry body brushing is a wonderful way to not only keep our skin glowing but make our bodies healthy too,  I just want to give a heads up  that if you’re someone with sensitive skin you would want to  avoid it as it may cause significant irritation, redness, and rashes to the skin.

So, as a general rule of thumb, people with ultra sensitive skin should stick to a gentler body exfoliation method, only if their skin allows it!

How often should you do it?

Its always good to see what works for you and your body. As long as you don’t ignore warning signs like discomfort, itchiness, redness, or even pain, a dry brushing session done the right way, should benefit most people. It is advisable to only dry-brush one to two times per week. But If you have a semi-sensitive skin type, try dry brushing once every couple of weeks initially. If you build up a tolerance to it, then transition to one to two times a week. The bottom line on dry brushing is to find what works for You!

If you haven’t yet then give it a try… Your Body Will Thank You!  🙂

I hope you’re staying safe along with your loved ones during this corona crisis! ❤

Revlon Super Lustrous ‘The Luscious Mattes’ : Review & Swatches

Revlon has launched its Iconic “Super Lustrous” Lipsticks in 24 Matte Shades recently. The shade range of this lipstick collection varies from Nudes to Mid tone Pinks to Plums to Reds and even some fun colors like Purple and Black.

The packaging of this lipstick looks really high end. It has a beautiful  black velvet matte tube, with a gold trim on the top.

You can get an idea of all the shades from this collection in the pictures down below:

I’ve got shade name Untold Stories from this collection. Each lipstick in this collection retails for $9.49 and the quantity of the product is 0.15 oz in each bullet. This shade ‘Untold Stories’ is a very pretty nude pink shade with blush undertones.

The lipstick has a very lightweight formula. It feels rich and moisturizing on the lips.

According to the brand: The formula of this lipstick is infused with a   luxurious botanical blend of agave, moringa oil, and cupuacu butter to  help your lips feel supple and look smooth.

The lipstick feels very smooth on the lips when you first apply it on. The pigmentation level is really good, even though this is a light shade. It doesn’t contain any scent either. But it is not completely transfer-proof. Even though the formula feels hydrating on the lips, I suggest both exfoliating and moisturizing your lips prior to the application of this lipstick, for a smooth finish. Unfortunately, this doesn’t last long. It stayed on my lips for about 3-4 hours, and then I noticed some fading. I had just one meal before it was completely gone from my lips and I had to re-apply it.

Here are some Pros and Cons of this lipstick that I’d like to share:

  • Very Moisturizing
  • No scent (good for those who prefer it)
  • Feels lightweight on lips
  • Truly Matte with a light sheen finish
  • High Pigment payoff on ONE swipe across lips
  • Glides on smooth without tugging

* Not transfer-proof, smudge-proof or waterproof

* Not long-wearing, will fade in few hours and/or need to reapply

Overall, I personally would like to try few other colors too, because this is an affordable matte lipstick option with such pretty shades available at drugstore. I like the fact that it doesn’t have cheap scent or quality for that matters. I hope this helps 🙂

Have you tried any shade from this range yet? If yes, which one and what are your thoughts on it. Do share 🙂 ❤

Easy DIY Facial at Home

The Valentine’s Day is just in less than 2 days. This day is all about love, but not just ‘romantic’ love. It’s about showing appreciation to those whom we love and who are special to us. Make sure you don’t forget to include yourself 🙂

For me self-love is all about how I take care of myself physically, emotionally and mentally so that I can take care of my loved ones in the best way possible. I do believe that it all starts with ourselves. I tell myself this everyday that life is a blessing and we don’t need a ‘specific’ reason to celebrate it! Hence, I try to save some time for myself frequently and do at least few things that gives me happiness. One of such things is to pamper myself. It doesn’t matter if I do something big or something as small as giving myself a facial to pamper myself, trust me it feels so good to take some time just for yourself from your daily routine.

Today I am sharing 7 very easy steps to give yourself a  spa-like facial at home to pamper yourself not just for vday but for any day when you need some extra “treat yourself” experience. As we all know, a facial is without a doubt, the best way to get a glowy skin. For me, a facial is an important part for maintaining a healthy skin. A facial helps locking the moisture in the skin and helps removing dead skin cells that clog the pores. All you need to do is just follow these 7 simple steps and your skin will be glowing in no time!

  1. Cleanse

First step is to make sure that your face is completely free of any makeup or dirt. It is very important to start everything with a clean slate. That’s why if you’re wearing any makeup then start with removing all of it using a makeup remover. After removing the makeup, wash your face and neck with the facial cleanser. Once your face is completely clean, you are ready for the next step.

2. Steam

When you’re treating yourself to a facial at home, you have to make sure that you do not skip this step. Steaming opens up the pores and hydrates the skin. Steaming is the secret that most of the facialists swear by. If you don’t have a facial steamer at home then use the boiled water in a bowl. Put a towel over your head and lean over the water allowing the steam to rise to your face – without sitting too closely! Sit like this for 5 to 10 minutes while the steam opens up your pores, moistens your skin and make it ready for the next steps!

3. Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps getting rid of any dead skin cells that are giving you a dull, and tired complexion. For this step, use a gentle exfoliator and scrub in slow, circular motions across your cheeks, chin, nose, forehead, and neck. Remember, your scrub will do all the work for you, so don’t be too vigorous or push hard on your skin or you could do more damage than good! Alternatively, if scrubs upset your skin, use a warm, wet washcloth and, using circular motions, gently rub your skin. Then rinse off with lukewarm water. This will leave your skin soft and tender and prepared for the next steps.

4. Massage

The next step in the process of performing a facial is to massage the face. A facial massage helps stimulating your facial muscles and encourage the blood flow to the area. Since you are going to do your own face massage, you don’t have to be perfect. All you need is to learn few facial massage steps which you can easily do by watching few videos on youtube.

5. Mask

After the massage apply a facial mask. The type of face mask you use depends on your skin type. If you have oily skin, use a clay mask. For dry skin, I suggest using a hydrating cream or gel mask. Depending on the mask, leave it on for the suggested amount of time and then rinse completely.

A facial mask should never be applied to your eye area as the skin is too delicate. If you’d like to give some TLC to this area then try applying some eye cream which will nourish the skin around your eyes while you wait for your mask to do its magic to the rest of your skin.

6. Tone

Next step is to use a toner on your face. Toner is like the setting spray for your skincare routine. It makes sure all your hard work doesn’t go to waste and seals everything off. Using a toner rounds off your facial by closing your pores and making sure that there’s no residue from your products left on your face. For sensitive or dry skin, avoid products that contain alcohol as they can take the moisture out of your skin, leaving it dry and irritated. Use a cotton pad to apply the toner over your forehead, cheeks, chin and nose and you’re ready for the last step!

7. Moisturize

During a facial, our skin goes through a lot, causing it to lose moisture. So, the final step is to inject some moisture into your newly refreshed skin. Apply an eye cream (if you haven’t done this in previous step) and a moisturizer right before ending the facial. If your skin is oily, opt for a hydrating and mattifying gel formula, but if your skin is on the dryer side, give your skin a drink with a rich, creamy moisturizer. Once your skin has soaked in your moisturizer then your facial is complete!

Happy pampering! 😉

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week ahead…. Happy Valentine’s day! ❤

My Everyday Favorite ‘Neutral’ Lipsticks

‘Lipstick’ is the one thing in my entire makeup collection that I tend to have most fun with. I love wearing lipsticks and I love exploring new brands and different lip shades. As much as I love my bright and bold lipstick colors, I still find myself gravitate more towards those lipstick shades which look natural on me for everyday use.

In today’s blogpost, I am sharing my 7 favorite lipstick shades that are always in rotation when it comes to my everyday makeup look. For me as an everyday makeup look, ‘subtle brown smokey eyes’ with a ‘neutral lip’ is my go to thing. And the shades I am sharing on the blog today are the ones that I find perfect for daily wear. 3 out of these 7 are from Mac cosmetics and 4 are from other renowned brands. Want to know which ones? Keep reading 🙂

Note: Before adding the lipstick swatches, I’ve shared a picture of me without any lipstick, so that you can get a better idea of each lipstick shade on my skin knowing the natural color of my lip!

No Lipstick

Mac Cosmetics: Velvet Teddy

Velvet Teddy by Mac Cosmetics, is a great lip for everyday wear. Velvet Teddy is described as ‘deep-tone beige’ with a matte finish. This is how this shade looks on me:

NARS  Power Matte Lip Pigment: American Woman

American Woman is a liquid lipstick and it is a ‘medium, rosy mauve’ shade with neutral undertone and a matte finish. The texture of this liquid lipstick is very thin. I love this shade as its so near to my natural lip color.

Mac Cosmetics: Twig

Twig is a warm toned, ‘medium mauve’ shade with a satin finish. It is a very flattering lipstick color and it looks beautiful on a wide range of skin tones.

Mac Cosmetics: Taupe

MAC Taupe is described as a ‘muted reddish-taupe brown’ shade. It is a very sophisticated color. It is an excellent shade for office goers. Easy to pull off. It looks medium brown on my skin tone as you can see in the picture.

Too Faced: Sell Out

Sell Out is such a pretty neutral shade, as you can see. The formula of this liquid lipstick feels very light on the lips. This shade is described as a ‘matte soft pinky-brown’.

Makeup Forever Artist Nude Creme Liquid Lipstick: Touch

This liquid lipstick has a mousse like consistency, texture wise. The shade I’m wearing here is #08 and the shade name is ‘Touch’. This is an extremely pigmented and opaque lipstick with a creamy, satin finish.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: Lolita II

This liquid lipstick shade is my another one of the most favorite shades which is described as a ‘terracotta nude’. It’s a muted, medium rosy coral with warm undertones and an ultra matte finish.

So, these were some of the lipsticks that I enjoy wearing on everyday basis. What about you? What are some of your everyday favorite lipstick shades? Will wait to hear from you… Don’t forget to share 🙂

I hope you have a great weekend! 🙂

5 Important Tips To Save Skin This Winter

Winter can devastate our skin if we do not know how to take proper care of the skin during the dry cold days. It’s because during the winter time, the humidity levels drop both indoors and outdoors, and dry air tends to minimize our skin’s natural moisture.

Once there’s dryness in the skin, it gets uncomfortably rough and itchy. Fortunately, you can avoid all this by sticking to the tips that I’m sharing in today’s post! When it comes to saving our skin in dry winter, there are few rules you need to follow. Let’s see what are those rules:

Use Humidifier

Number one rule is to get and use a Humidifier in your home, if you don’t already have one! As we all know that dry air can cause moisture to evaporate from the skin.  Humidifiers add that moisture back to the air. Adding moisture to the air with a humidifier can help preventing many skin and health related problems that occur because of the dry air inside the closed doors. However, using the humidifier is not enough in itself. In addition, you need be sure that the heat setting is kept on low or at a moderate temperature to avoid that extra dryness in the air.

Avoid Hot & Long Showers

A nice hot steamy shower seems like the perfect remedy  in a cold day. However taking too long shower with even moderately ‘hot’ water can dry out the skin that can lead to itchiness. It’s because the hot showers and baths can inflame the skin which can disrupt the skin’s natural balance of moisture. Stick to showering with lukewarm water and try to shorten your shower time too, somewhere between 8-12 minutes.

Don’t Use Harsh Cleansers

Since your skin is already lacking moisture during these days, you’d want to stick to gentle cleansers for both your face and body. Harsh or stronger cleansers can strip away the natural oils of your skin and make your skin way drier. Try to use cream cleansers instead, because they are gentle on the skin and have built-in moisture. Having said that, try to use only required amount of product on your skin while showering. Only apply the cleanser where you actually need it, such as under your arms, in your groin area, and on your feet. You can use the leftover cleanser (on your hands) on rest of the body parts. By doing this, you can avoid losing the natural moisture that your skin already has!

Exfoliate Moderately

Realistically, you should be exfoliating all year round, but when it comes to winter season, it becomes even more important to buff that extra dry skin. Exfoliation helps replenish the skin and improve the effectiveness of moisturizers. Stick to exfoliation no more than twice a week but only if you have a normal to oily skin type. If your skin type is already dry, then you may want to either skip the exfoliation altogether or you must use a  very gentle and mild scrub instead. In any case, beware of over-exfoliating your skin, as your skin is more prone to dryness in the cold weather. The last thing a raw, dehydrated, winter-worn skin needs is a harsh face peel or scrub, which can further deplete moisture and worsen the skin’s condition.

Moisturize Regularly

Last, but one of the most important rules of winter skin care is to moisturize your skin on regular basis. Moisturizing is an essential part of our skin regimen but it becomes much more important in this dry, freezing weather. Using a good winter moisturizer can help you treat and prevent the dry skin during winter months. Moisturizing can make a huge difference. Be sure to choose a product according to your skin’s need and prefer to apply  it on your skin when your skin is damp (such as after a shower) to help it retain some hydration. Also don’t forget the Sunscreen. You need to accept the fact that Sunscreen isn’t just for the summertime. Winter sun can still damage your skin.

One additional tip: make ‘Petroleum Jelly’ your best friend, specially in cold season! This gooey substance can fix just about anything that is skin related: from a cracked lip to cracked heals. One of the very popular petroleum jelly brand name is Vaseline! Petroleum is the main ingredient of Vaseline. But unlike other forms of petroleum, Vaseline is said to be safe to use on your skin and hands. I, personally, avoid using it on my face as petroleum jelly may clog the pores but it can be best for your skin on hands and feet.

At last, I’d like to add, even though all these tips may come handy but if your skin stays dry no matter how much you take care of it, or if it’s constantly peeling or cracking, don’t ignore it. Think of consulting a doctor or a dermatologist to create the best moisturizing action plan possible.  🙂

I hope y’all had a wonderful beginning of 2020! ❤
