Maybelline has released quite a few new lip products for summer 2019: Super Stay Ink Crayons. This is an entirely new lipstick collection by the brand and this collection has 12 new shades in total.

I purchased the shade ‘Laugh Louder #40’ from my local drugstore.

Packaging

Let’s talk about the packaging first. The packaging of these crayons is simple but unique, I’d say. It’s sleek, thin and what makes it even better and unique is that it comes with a sharpener! To me, it looks very much alike an actual crayon. The body of each crayon is colored to reflect the shade inside the pen itself.

Application

The SuperStay Ink Crayon have a rather creamy texture that easily glide onto the lips. Because this lip product is highly pigmented, hence it provides full coverage (color) just in one swipe. Most importantly, it is very comfortable to wear, much more comfortable than the liquid lipstick versions. 

Review

The website claims that these crayons are transfer-proof and smudge-proof, which they are. You just have to let them dry for few seconds after applying. The finish has more of a soft, demi-matte feel to it that looks matte but is  slightly hydrating at the same time. The texture is very lightweight, it doesn’t dry the lips out. It has the same vanilla scent which the matte liquid lipsticks have and I really like it. I wore this lipstick first at 1pm and after that I had my lunch, had my coffee, took a snack and then ate dinner all at different time intervals. I am adding the pictures of all the different times of the day wearing this lip crayon. I didn’t retouch even once during the wear test. And at night, when I had to remove my makeup, it came off pretty easily with the makeup remover without leaving any stains behind. And that’s what, I love most about any lip product. So, the brand claims that it stays on lips for about 8 hours, but for me it was pretty good for a little bit over 6 hours, so I won’t complain much! Final thoughts…

I feel that this is a good product. As I mentioned earlier, its lightweight, easy to apply and has great pigmentation. It leans more towards the drier side, but retains a softness that doesn’t leave your lips feeling patchy. Bottom of the tube contains a sharpener to make the lippie pointy again, which I think, is a very smart idea! Its long lasting and smudge proof, so if you feel like giving it a go, I would definitely recommend it. 🙂
