Powder Kiss Lipstick is a new matte formula by Mac Cosmetics that has been launched a couple of months ago. The brand launched 16 shades in the beginning and then recently they’ve added another 8 (new) shades to the existing line.
I bought the shade ‘Mull It Over’ as this shade looked most exciting to me in entire collection. It’s a dirty peach kind of shade. It retails for 19$ (USD).
Packaging:
The actual packaging of this lipstick is slightly different than their normal packaging. The packaging of this tube is more matte, unlike the original glossy packaging.
When I first opened the tube, I noticed that the product has ‘powder’ like appearance to it.

Review:
It’s a lightweight formula and feels very smooth on the lips. I had no problems with the application whatsoever.
As you can see the swatch on my arm, the color looks very pigmented there but when I applied it on my lips, the color didn’t look as pigmented as it was looking on my arm. The good news is that it’s buildable. The only thing you need to take care before wearing this lipstick is don’t forget to exfoliate your lips (which I clearly forgot as you can see in the pictures!). Its not that this lipstick will make your lips dry or something, its because if you want to build the color, you don’t want your lips to look flaky at all. Otherwise the formula is very good as it is both matte and moisturizing at the same time.
Also, it’s not transfer poof as you can see in the picture below:
Things I liked about this Lipstick:
- The application is smooth, almost feels balm – like on lips.
- Doesn’t make lips drier.
- Wearable colors.
- Buildable.
Things I didn’t like:
- The lipstick has a very distinct smell. The smell that I can’t really explain in words. Or maybe I can try! It’s like burnt vanilla with a hint of bitterness… just something like that! I kept feeling that smell until the lipstick stayed on my lips.
- The lipstick has a very sweet sugary taste to it. In my opinion, this is a little bit too much for me.
- Not lasting. If you don’t like retouching your lipsticks every two to three hours (this is average), then this is not a good option at all.
So, last but not least, I think I would rather grab the original matte MAC lipstick instead of picking this one, but I am glad that I tried atleast one shade from this collection to find out was the hype even worth? Not for me, I guess 🙂
What are your thoughts on this line of Mac lipsticks? Have you tried it yet? If yes, how did you like it?
I hope you’re having a wonderful day. ❤
See you very soon in the next post. Until then…
I have to admit, I love the shade that you picked. I haven’t seen these in my local MAC store, would definitely try them as I need lipstick that doesn’t dry out my lips as I can’t handle liquid lipsticks. xx

Correct, go ahead. They have a very good color range. If the smell, taste and longevity is not an issue, then its not a bad option 🙂
Thank you so much for reading ❤ I hope you're having a good day! xo

This sounds interesting…maybe if MAC lipsticks were a bit less expensive, it would be worth a try! Thanks for reviewing (:

No, I have not tried it yet. But such a great shade for Spring. Not sure if I would like the smell you mentioned. Thank you for the great review.

It smells like cloves (or a dentist’s office). For me, it is better than the cheap vanilla scent that the other lipsticks have…
