Monthly Favorites

August 2016 Favorites

I can’t believe that Summer is almost over and Fall is almost here! And before Summer is officially over, some of us are still trying to get in a few more bbq’s and weekend trips before it ends 😉

For me personally, August was filled with a lot of joy and excitement, because half of my family members birthdays fall in August, including me 🙂 It was a month of short road trips and celebrations!

In blog corner too, with another month passing, comes another ‘Monthly Favorites’ post. In this Month’s Favorites, I’ve included 4 items which are beauty/skin related and 1 item is health/fitness related.

Please keep scrolling to find out what it is 😉

1. Gelatin (DIY Face Mask)
2. Panasonic Facial Trimmer
3. Anastasia Mini Lip Glosses
4. Marc Jacobs Decadence
5. Quinoa

1. Gelatin (DIY Face Mask)

Knox gelatin

This is not the first time that I’ve tried this mask on my skin (Nose/Face) to remove blackheads and dirt. But since in summers, the skin gets clogged with excessive oil very easily and very frequently, its advisable to clean your skin thoroughly as frequently as you can. Because when oil builds up, it pools to collect dirt and dead skin cells. This home remedy of Gelatin and Milk creates a sticky compound capable of pulling out the clog and freeing the pore.

So I’d say that mainly it’s a pore cleansing DIY mask that I absolutely enjoyed using in the month of August, to get clear and softer skin!

Note:
Peeling this mask off can really hurt. If you have a very sensitive skin, this mask could potentially be too painful to be worth trying out.

2. Panasonic Facial Trimmer

I feel that handheld facial trimmers are really a quick and safe way to remove all the unwanted hair on the face, chin and neck etc.

I purchased this trimmer last month for $19.99 and I really liked it. I’ve used many facial trimmers in the past though, but this has to be my favorite one. Reason: it has a pivoting head that can swing 10 degrees to the left and right while using. It has 2 comb attachments and it is a battery operated portable device.

3. Anastasia Mini Lip Glosses

These mini lip glosses are everything!! These lip glosses are from ‘Anastasia Summer 2016 Lip Gloss Set’. I purchased this whole set for $28.00 (USD). It includes six, travel-sized glosses. All six shades are new and limited edition. The formula is ultra-smooth and weightless. If you love really pigmented glosses, this is it!

Currently I’m adding 4 out of 6 in this post, because I haven’t used the other two yet!

Blushing is a medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a cream finish.

Caramel is a muted, medium-dark rosy brown with warm undertones and a cream finish.

St. Tropez is a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with a ton of metallic gold shimmer.

Tango is a medium-dark, pink-berry with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish.

4. Marc Jacobs Decadence

‘Decadence’ by Marc Jacobs is basically an Autumn/Winter fragrance. But this is the one fragrance I believe I wore very frequently in August month, almost on every outing and on every celebration previous month!

Marc Jacobs Decadence

• Top Notes – Italian Plum, Iris, Saffron
• Heart Notes – Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Orris
• Base Notes – Liquid Amber, Vetiver, Papyrus Woods

Marc’s scents are well known for their sense of irreverent luxury. But where their iconic fragrance ‘Daisy’ feels very subtle, light and feminine, Decadence feels definitely more mature!

5. Quinoa

This is going to be the last item that I’m adding in my favorite list for August month. Although I had heard about this ‘superfood’ many years ago, but never got a chance to try it. Or shall I say It wasn’t readily available in every food supermarket, before it actually got hype on social media after consuming by many celebrities for losing weight!! 😀

Quinoa

Quinoa is naturally gluten-free and contains iron, B-vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, vitamin E, and fiber. It is one of only a few plant foods that are considered a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids.

Quinoa is one of the most protein-rich foods we can eat.

Quinoa contains almost twice as much fiber as most other grains.

Quinoa contains Iron.

Quinoa is rich in magnesium.

I’m sure if you haven’t tried this superfood yet, you would love to give it a try!

This is pretty much what I loved using previous (August) month. What’s on your favorites for this/previous month? Would love to know all 🙂

See you soon in next post…

Until then…
