NYX Cosmetics Mini Haul PART-2: Swatches & Reviews

FIRST

As mentioned in the previous post that there would be two parts of ‘NYX Cosmetics Haul’; here comes the next one – Part 2, where I’m going to share my experience and reviews about other two beauty products that I purchased from NYX recently.

Let’s first talk about NYX Ultimate shadow palette in Brights.

NYX ULTIMATE Shadow Palette (Brights)

nyx palette

This palette has 16 very beautiful, eye-catching shadows that are .02 oz a piece. As the name tells, all the colors in this palette are pretty bright. Cost of this palette is $18 (USD).

This palette has a very nice range of matte and shimmery shades. Most of the shades feel pretty smooth, although few of them feel a little powdery, but they can be easily fixed when you apply them using a wet brush.

Some of the colors do need a bit more building up than others, but for the most part, these shadows have some pretty intense pigmentation.

As for the colors available in this palette, the first row contains a ‘shimmery red’, ‘matte fuchsia’, ‘matte neon orange’, and a ‘matte true orange’ colors.

In the second row mainly it has cool toned pinks and purples. To be more specific, there’s a ‘matte purple’, ‘matte fuchsia’, ‘matte rosy pink’, and a ‘matte lavender’.

Row three has most gorgeous shades of blue. It has a slightly ‘shimmery blue’, a ‘matte bright cyan blue’, a ‘satin teal-green’ and a ‘matte sea-green’.

And then, in the last row it has two shades of green and two shades of yellow. Greens are – a ‘matte spring green’ and a ‘lime green with gold and lime sparkles’ and for yellows – a ‘matte golden yellow’, and a ‘matte bright yellow’.

(The few shades which I mentioned that contain glitter, the glitter is not awkwardly visible on eyes!)

In my personal opinion, I feel this palette is a bit on pricey side for this brand. But I’ve used a few colors on my eyes, and I really liked the way they show off with good quality and nice texture. All the shades have good pigmentation but they don’t look gaudy on eyes, which is the best thing about them. Also, I’d say this kind of palette may not be for everyone, but if you are really into makeup, a color selection like this can come in handy for particular looks, or if you just want to have some fun with a bright eye look!

Overall I’ll give this palette a 9 out of 10.

NYX Honey Dew Me Up

Next in the line is NYX Honey Dew Me Up (Cost $17) is a skin serum and facial primer by NYX. This product is inspired by the golden glow on honey.

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer comes in a glass jar with a spatula applicator. It’s a light gold almost clear color gel that has gold flecks in it. It has a subtle scent. It contains collagen which promotes very intense moisture. The gold flecks aren’t an issue at all as they seem to just melt down and disappear after application.

The texture is honey-like thick and gooey and it absorbs easily but leaves a very sticky feel. It does however set to a very smooth and dewy finish and it would be a good option for people with very dry skin.

I was really excited about using this product in the beginning but I can’t really notice its use as a primer! It’s not a bad product as such but I don’t see any results and I’m a little disappointed for spending 17 bucks for this. As a primer it really doesn’t smooth out the skin as a traditional primer does. And it doesn’t really even cover the pores or blur imperfections like a regular primer does.

But I would still like to keep it as a part of my skincare regimen as it contains collagen! I didn’t find much of its use in makeup but I use it every morning after exfoliating, as a skin serum and leave it for 1-2 hours before cleansing my face thoroughly. It does provide little radiance to skin that it claims. Overall I’ll give this product a 6 out of 10.

So these were my views on these two products. Have you tried them already? How do you feel about both of these products? Would love to hear from you. 🙂

Until then…
